GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to serve on the Mobile Crisis Response team, as a behavioral health member working alongside a Lexington Police Officer, responding to individuals experiencing a mental health emergency/crisis and providing resources and support to those in need.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or another field related to the job

  • Two (2) years of related experience

  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience

  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responds to emergency calls and provides immediate support and crisis intervention to individuals experiencing mental health crises

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of individuals in crisis, assessing mental health needs, risk factors, and safety concerns

  • Determines the need for further intervention and coordinates with medical and behavioral health services as necessary

  • Provides ongoing support during and after crises to ensure the individual's safety and wellbeing

  • Develops and maintains community partnerships for coordination of care for individuals in crisis

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, interventions, and referrals made

  • Conducts regular program evaluations to evaluate effectiveness and impact of program

  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver¿s License

  • Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety, through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, must be completed within the first three (3) months of employment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, through the Lexington Police Department, must be completed for compliance with the Kentucky Community Crisis Co-Response (CCCR) grant.

  • All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
