Job Summary Under limited supervision, the Mortgage Loan Officer will proactively work, primarily away from and outside MACU's place of business, in order to solicit new residential mortgage loans and sell MACU mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals. Job Description LOCATION Orem University Branch SCHEDULE Full-time ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully. * Spanish speaking preferred * Identifies, develops and maintains a network of outside business relationships, both existing and prospective, that will serve as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. This might include real estate agents, builders, personal and professional contacts. * The majority of time is spent outside of the office prospecting, meeting with borrowers, realtors and builders, and other referral sources in order to build a personal pipeline * Develops mortgage lending opportunities by being involved in the community, away from MACU's offices, to promote home ownership and personal sales contacts * Responds to inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other MACU business channels, but typically not online or internal referrals. * Conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data and gives advice to borrowers about product/pricing policies and guidelines; gathers any additional required information. Determines borrower financing objectives and goals; Assess the correct loan options for the borrower based upon the borrowers present situation, future plans, and advise the member of the preferred loan product * Meets with prospective borrowers as necessary during the various stages of the lending process at the location of their choice. * Utilizes MACU training materials, reference tools and other resources to ensure accuracy on loan program/policy information * Provides a complete and accurate loan application as part of a complete loan package * Ensures an exceptional mortgage experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to not only the borrower but each business partner in the transaction * Primary duty is to sell mortgage loans and other MACU financial products to customers away from and outside of MACU's place(s) of business. Work done at MACU's offices is incidental and adjunct to outside sales. * Achieves or exceeds production goals as established by Mountain America Credit Union's Mortgage Department. * Apprises borrower of pricing and lock-in policy and procedure; lock rates as required. * Identifies appropriate opportunities to sell additional products (see handbook for referral requirements). * Completes mortgage application process via Encompass to include addresses, phone numbers, account numbers and any other information to complete the loan. * Runs a credit report and AUS; collects fees associated with the loan at the appropriate time; orders appraisals and title reports. * Tracks REPC dates to avoid costly extensions or loss of property and/or earnest money deposit, and provides an extension prior to application if less than two weeks before settlement date. * Utilizes Encompass to check for notes, conditions, and development of the loan * Counsels borrowers who are denied loans regarding their credit and achieving their credit goals * Attends and complete all Mountain America required training to include Mountain America University classes. * Maintains current and thorough knowledge of all lending programs, policies, p Mountain American Credit Union Orem UT
