Organizational Location:This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), New Orleans Field Office. Duty Location; New Orleans, LA

As a Mission Support Assistant, you will provide substantive clerical support in one or more of the administrative support areas (e.g., finance and budget, logistics and procurement, human resources, records and files management, etc.). Specifically you will:

Responsibilities

  • Perform office automation work by using computer software, e.g., spreadsheets, databases, and graphics, to produce, store and retrieve a variety of documents;

  • Monitor, coordinate and maintain a variety of office files and records;

  • Extract, compile and manipulate data to determine if trends or patterns exist;

  • Compile a variety of reports and maintain tracking systems of transactions ; and

  • Coordinating requests for services from users, procuring routine equipment and services and completing necessary forms.

Qualifications

One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service, performing duties such as:

  • Gathering data for routine reports;

  • Maintaining office files, transaction logs and records,

  • Ordering routine equipment and services,

  • Typing office documents, preparing graphs and charts; and

  • Reviewing forms and other documents for completeness. OR

A bachelor's degree or Successful completion of a full four-year course of study above the high school level in any field from an accredited college or university; OR

A combination of successfully completed creditable education and specialized experience, the total of which equals at least one year. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

National Service Experience (i.e. volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Current or Former Political Appointees: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.

Typing Proficiency: In addition to the above minimum qualification requirements, applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minutes sample, with three or fewer errors. You may self-certify your proficiency in the Occupational Questionnaire.
