Mission Staff Or Student Staff, Nextgen Leader (Part-Time)

The NextGen Leader (NGL) program is a national two-year leadership cohort that aims to recruit, train, and deploy high potential talent to work across diverse communities in the mission. Through increasing cultural competence, we equip participants to become more effective at carrying out our mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. We do this through training in Young Life essentials, cultural and ethnic identity development, personal and professional development, and theological and spiritual formation. This is a historic investment at a national scale that aims to expand our impact in developing leaders who reflect communities that historically have not been represented well in our mission or are experiencing a significant demographic shift.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development

• Maintain personal spiritual health by having regular devotion, solitude, and prayer.

• Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines in the context of active participation in a church community.

• Actively participate in the fellowship of the Young Life community.

• Help lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.

Leadership Development

• Equipping leaders, committee, and staff. Includes volunteer care, recruiting, team building, training, supervision, and vision casting.

• Recruit, train, and lead new volunteer leaders and staff to reach more kids and start more work.

• Work with the volunteer committee, volunteer team leaders, and area staff to develop vision and strategy to reach more kids.

• Develop consistent gatherings with committee, leaders, and staff to build unity and cast vision.

Direct Ministry

• Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

• Lead a team to plan and conduct a new or existing Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry with excellence.

• Participate in implementing a summer and school season camp strategy for your ministry.

• Serve on a three-to-four-week summer assignment at a Young Life camp during one of the two years in NGL.

• Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.

• Help to recruit and train volunteer leaders under the guidance of the local supervisor.

• Update the NGL ministry Score Card on an ongoing basis.

• Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures and maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.

Resource Development:

• Fuel the ministry with fundraising events, donor care, and community/individual engagement.

• Raise financial support as directed by the supervisor and maintain good donor care practices.

• Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.

• Observe and learn to network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community including principals, pastors, parents, and potential committee members as assigned by the area director.

Ministry Support

• Accounting, administration, communication, data management, and strategic planning.

• Work closely with the area administrator to manage finances with accountability and transparency, as well as data with accuracy.

• Communicate internally with excellence and professionalism to help guide the teams forward.

• Lead yearly strategic ministry planning.

Notes:

This position would require the staff person to live near the community where he or she would be doing ministry.
