Job Description:

Join General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) and be a part of the team of men and women that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. The MISSION program is seeking a Network Administratorto support our customer at Eglin AFB in sunny Florida!

If selected you will be responsible for the analysis, administration and support of voice, video, and/or data communications networks:

  • Maintain SAN, switches and security implementations according to government information assurance policies and procedures

  • Monitor network performance and stability and ensure efficient and effective operations.

  • Possess strong troubleshooting, analytic and diagnostic skills, along with good communication abilities.

  • Coordinate and implement network software and hardware upgrades with peers and leadership.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN performance, connectivity and related network problems. Installs, tests, terminates and maintains fiber and copper cabling systems.

  • Perform proper cable management techniques.

  • Prepare and maintain network maps and present reports. Install, configure, and maintain voIP telephone systems.

  • Provide technical solutions in the management of software, hardware, configurations, and architectures, including network control software, routers, switches, lines, modems, adapters and servers.

  • Evaluate existing network systems and planning long-term strategies to ensure network capacity meets current and future network requirements.

  • Install, support and/or maintain LANs and/or WANs; evaluate and recommend networking product and software upgrades with some latitude and moderate supervision.

  • Design, install and maintain the network system for multiple classifications and coordinates their use with some independent judgement and moderate supervision.

  • Monitor network performance. Troubleshoots and resolves problems to ensure quality transmission service on the network.

  • Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues.

  • Apply practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices. Requires moderate skill sets and developing proficiency within discipline.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS (or equivalent experience)

  • 2+ years of experience

  • Security+ certification

  • Secret clearance

The 96th Test Wing is the test and evaluation center for Air Force air-delivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, Command and Control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems. The 53rd Wing is the focal point for the combat air forces in electronic warfare and is responsible for operational test and evaluation (OT&E) of advanced equipment and systems. Both Wings are headquartered at Eglin AFB, FL, adjacent to the white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters of Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast. To learn more about the Emerald Coast, click here: https://www.emeraldcoastfl.com/ We are seeking a qualified Network Administrator, to support the 53rd Wing Technical Support Services contract, to provide the US Air Force support services in the areas of network, security and test & evaluation. Position will be located at Eglin AFB, FL. Position may be assigned to Shift 1 or Shift 2. Shift Hours, inclusive of at least 1/2 hour break, are generally 0600-1430 for Shift 1 and 1330-2200 for Shift 2. Education and Experience: * AS degree in information systems or computer science and one (1) to three (3) years of directly related experience (small to medium sized network) or any equivalent combination of education, experience, training and certifications. * Must have an active/valid TS/SCI (i.e. DCID 6/4 eligibility) with an investigation close date no older than 5.5 years at the time of application. * Must be willing to submit to and pass a CI polygraph. * Must have a valid/current, and be able to maintain currency of, DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II certification. * Demonstrated ability to offer exceptional customer service, support networked devices, and working knowledge of current communications devices and protocols. Practical Knowledge in the following technologies: * Routers and switches: Cisco, Brocade * Firewalls: Cisco ASA, FortiGate * Hardware Desktop/Server * Cisco Prime Software Summary of Position Responsibilities: * Maintain firewall rules * Position at times will require heavy lifting * Prepare instruction manuals * Document operational activities Essential Functions Physical Requirements: * Office setting that includes sedentary physical effort. However, may include lifting of weight up to thirty (30) pounds as necessary. * Must be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. * No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Work site is located in Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Work Environment: * Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
