Mining Engineer Co-Op/Intern

A Mining Engineer Co-Op/Intern at Mosaic will be assigned to assisting with special project design and management. Projects will focus on improving facility efficiency and final product quality.

What will you do?

Day to day duties will include:

  • Assisting management in optimizing production, reviewing cost opportunities, and mine planning

  • Assisting reclamation projects and dam construction

  • Assisting with development of capital projects

  • Investigating production problems and formulating solutions

  • Monitoring project performance to assure reaching project timelines and goals

  • Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers (of various disciplines), lab personnel, and contractors.

  • Participation in department meetings and meetings specific to the project assignment

  • Adhering to Mosaic's mission, guiding principles and priorities, and key competencies

What do you need for this role?

  • Sophomore level or higher pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering

  • 2.75 GPA or higher

  • Ability to function in an industrial chemical and mining environment

  • 1-2 years' of experience volunteering, working with student/school organizations, or work is required

  • Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and implement learned process, procedures or software

  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills, including presentation skills

  • Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization and external customers, suppliers and vendors

  • Maintain a clean work environment and comply with all safety and environmental policies

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

The Credit Analyst Senior will be responsible for analyzing complex credit and financial information of domestic and high-risk international sales customers that are applying for credit, making decisions regarding the potential credit exposure, and if credit should be granted. Responsibilities will include preparing comprehensive reports based upon their findings to help make decisions on credit-worthiness, performing other non-standard credit risk analysis including freight risk and complex business/project evaluations, and leading global credit activities such as quarterly credit calls and providing guidance, analysis and support to credit decisions made by Mosaic's International Distribution businesses. What will you do? Credit Analysis and Approval Process (Domestic and High Risk International Sales Customers): * Assess creditworthiness of existing or prospective customers by performing complex financial analysis of and interpreting financial statements, legal documents and credit applications to approve credit limits. * Assess credit risk, which will include evaluating numerous criteria including business cycles, currency exchange rates, government regulations, country risk, monetary systems, and market supply and demand. * Build relationships with customers to better assess risk and to provide support to the Mosaic's Commercial team. * Ensure that electronic credit files are complete, consistent and in compliance with all of Mosaic's procedure. * Approve L/Cs and work with Mosaic's international coordination team to ensure compliance with procedures. * Recommend and negotiate payment plans for customers as required. * Prepare detailed credit analysis reports and communicate effectively with senior Commercial and Finance leaders to influence credit decisions, which include making recommendations for additional securities or reduction in credit limits. * Engage with the Mosaic's credit insurance brokers and other agencies align on covered risks. International Distribution Credit: * Monitor and coach International Distribution credit leads to ensure consistency, compliance and alignment of global credit policies, procedures and metrics. * Assess and determine the International Distribution and Corporate credit requests per credit policy. * Provide support to the Senior Manager, Credit on activities related to Mosaic's International Distribution credit function, including the CDA scoring tool, SAP, bad debt reserve calls and credit decisions. * Navigate challenging local country issues such as country risk, different business models and market conditions. Projects and Process Improvements: * Lead and participate in cross-functional projects and process improvement efforts. * Keep current with credit and industry best practice and represent Mosaic in industry credit associations meetings. * Provide support to the Senior Manager, Credit in preparing the annual budget. * Engage in activities to continuously improve SAP functionality and test processes. * Provide support for Treasury activities, projects and other tasks and responsibilities as assigned. * Other job duties and projects as assigned Business Partnering: * Represent the Credit department in internal meetings with Commercial, Customer Service and International Distribution. * Partner with Supply Chain and other departments manage financial information that helps control credit exposure, receive payments on time, generate risk awareness and reduce overall risk. Compliance and Metrics: * Ensure compliance with SOX and internal procedures. * Monitor credit department compliance reports. * Lead bad debt reserve SOX process in North America, China and India. * Lead and provide controls over global bad debt accruals. * Ensure credit metrics are in compliance. * Train and mentor new employees on credit procedures, credit risk and SAP functionalities including CDA Scoring tool and rules. Collection and Sales Orders Process: * Partner with North America's collection and customer service team to communicate, negotiate and resolve credit hold situations with key stakeholders, including customers. * Participate in the sales order release process and ensure SOX compliance. * Review collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures. * Conduct quarterly collection meetings with Commercial. What do you need for this role? * Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field required. * MBA preferred. * 5+ years of credit experience. * Must have wholesale customer experience. * Understanding of accounting, finance, ratio analysis, financial statement analysis, risk assessment, international risk, guarantees and US Bankruptcy code. * Proficient with legal, compliance and market risk related issues. * Ability to analyze cash flows, leverage ratios, collateral and customer strength. * Experience in the Agricultural industry preferred. * Export credit experience preferred. * Fluency in Spanish and Portuguese preferred. * CPA certification preferred * CBA – Credit Business Associate preferred * International Trade Finance Certification preferred. * Advanced SAP skills, * Microsoft Office (Excel, Visio, Word, Access, PowerPoint) experience. * Sales Force & Business Object reporting tools. * SAP CDA Highradius module (Credit Scoring) experience preferred. * Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills. * Sound judgement. * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize tasks. * Strong negotiation and conflict management skills. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Ability to develop effective business partnerships with stakeholders at all levels within the organization and with external customers. * Highly motivated and self-directed. * Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, positive and energetic. * Strong attention to detail. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Demonstrated ability to improve processes and be innovative. * Ability to travel domestically up to 10% of the time.
