The Dow Chemical Company has job opportunities for Millwright (Mechanical Technician) Apprentices located in Seadrift, TX.Millwright/Mechanical Technicians install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair process and mechanical equipment used in industrial processing. The mechanical equipment may include ANSI (American National Standards Institute) pumps, various types of compressors, blowers, fans, gearboxes, mixers and agitators.

Apprentices will participate in a 3 year company-paid program and will report to an Apprenticeship Program Technical Leader / Trainer who will support the Apprentice throughout the apprenticeship program. Through a combination of technical learning at a community college and on-the-job training at our chemical plants, Apprentices will acquire comprehensive expert knowledge and experience in the Millwright field.

During the program, Apprentices will be offered paid tuition, wages and some benefits. Upon successful completion of the program, Apprentices will have earned an Associates Degree. Apprentices who successfully complete the program will also be highly considered for a job within the company.

Individuals selected to fill an available Apprentice opening will be required to sign an offer letter that will commit them to working for Dow for 2 years following the completion of the program.

The hourly rate of pay for this role is $15.

During the program Apprentices will learn skills around:

Maintaining and repairing all types of mechanical equipment.

Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and replacing defective equipment parts.

Reading blueprints and design drawings.

Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

Procedure use - this includes field use, review, revision, and development of procedures.

The hire date for these opportunities will be early - late summer.

The Instrument Designer provides specialized technical support and solutions for project teams, operations and maintenance. The designer understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process, tools and industry best practices within their discipline. Responsibilities / Duties * Work with Process Engineers and Manufacturing Representatives to review and validate instrument process data * Develop and maintain an instrument index/schedule for projects * Size and select the appropriate instrument technology solution for each applications * Work with instrument suppliers to create the instrument order specifications used to purchase instruments * Collaborate with virtual Dow teams to complete Instrument engineering tasks for projects * Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure the engineering design will meet Dow, local and national codes requirements * Review and annotate piping and instrumentation diagrams and instrument location plans * Develop and/or select instrument installation detail drawings and instrument wiring drawings * Assemble and review the instrument documentation issued for construction contracts * Apply knowledge of global design standards for instrumentation and applicable engineering codes * Work activity coordinator (WAC) for project instrumentation resources. Focal point for Seadrift to region WAC capacity. * Estimate and forecast instrument man-hours requirement for each projects * Track and report physical progress on the instrument design deliverables for the project * Take responsibility for the accuracy, completeness and quality of all aspects of instrumentation design packages * Mentor junior instrument designers to successfully complete the design packages * Ensures safety in design Required Qualifications: * Minimum of a Short-Cycle Tertiary Degree (i.e. Associate's Degree) * Minimum 8 years of industry experience * A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Auto CAD or MicroStation experience * Instrument sizing and selection experience * Safety Instrumented System Design experience Note: Domestic relocation may be available for this role.
