Position Overview

The Mill Operator ensures that all equipment used in the rolling process is installed, adjusted and maintained to maximize safety, efficiency, quality and production.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead cranes, ensures heat lot separation at the feeder-bed

  • Perform routine equipment care checks

  • Make adjustments to Mill stands, grinding equipment

  • Perform product changes

  • Measure finish products

  • Perform quality checks

  • Relieve Mill Pulpit Operators

  • Perform Lubrication inspections and repairs

  • Operate cutting torches

  • Light reheat furnace

  • Expected to be an active participant in Safety Meetings, Crew Meetings and Housekeeping activities

  • Must be able to work in a team environment

Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Basic computer skills

  • Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays

  • Some overtime will be required

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills

  • Must be able to learn quickly and multitask

  • Ability to work in extreme heat

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
