Military & Veteran Student Services is part of Enrollment Services. Enrollment Services is part of the larger division of Student Affairs and comprises Admissions and Recruitment, Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, and International Student Services. We are recruiting for a Military & Veterans Benefits Specialist to join our office!

To thrive in this role the candidate must have the capacity for high volume, high pressure, and detail-oriented production. The ability to efficiently organize, make decisions, prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and as a team player within a highly computerized environment with frequent daily interruptions.

You will be expected to have the ability to apply policies, rules, and regulations, must have excellent analytical skills as well as written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent customer service skills are a must!

Knowledge of basic accounting practices and office procedures is key to this role as well as the ability to problem solve, work comfortably with individuals who may be frustrated, and demonstrate success in working with diverse populations and with those persons with diverse points of view.

Additionally, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and internet navigation skills are necessary, as well as public speaking, presentation and conflict resolution skills.

Preference for applicants with knowledge of federal DoD and VA education benefit regulations; and experience with Banner, ArmyIgnitED, VA-Once, AI Portal and Navy NCMIS software.

University experience which required data entry with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Bachelor's degree or higher and previous experience working with military or department of education regulations preferred. All degrees should be from a from a regionally accredited institution.

Position Details:

This position is located on the UA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.

UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77, based on education and experience.
