This recruitment will be used to fill multiple positions (a maximum of 24 hours per week during academic terms and up to 40 hours during summer break) for the College Assistant Migrant Program (CAMP) at Oregon State University (OSU).
All positions will work directly with high school migrant students during three week-long in-person institutes July 7 - 26, 2024 plus training July 1-3.
OSU CAMP will host the 2024 Migrant Summer Programs including the Migrant Leadership Institute (OMLI), Migrant Agriculture Institute, and Migrant Engineering Institute. Room and Board will be provided during the training and the three weeks of programming for OMLI mentors.
Position Duties
Mentors will work with persons under 18 years of age
Position duties include:
Facilitate 12-15 students using the OMLI curriculum
Engage students with activities during the facilitation
Provide help and expertise using technology apps
Must participate in staff training on July 1-3, 2024 and ½ day in June TBD
Enforce all "Student Conduct Regulations" as described by OSU UHDS
Monitor the safety and welfare of program participants
Organize and facilitate evening educational programming
Carry out assigned work activities and participate in all organized events
Attend and participate in staff meetings
Assist in conducting program evaluations
Perform other tasks as assigned
Be available anytime during the day or night to respond to participant concerns
Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Current or former OSU CAMP Student
Former OMLI participant currently enrolled in a college or university.
Experience in working with migrant student populations.
Experience working with group dynamics.
Good communication skills.
Experience facilitating workshops.
Understanding of different leadership styles.
Willingness to facilitate, socially interact, and participate in all workshops and activities.
Energetic and outgoing personality preferred.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
