Purpose Statement: The job of the Migrant Advisor - School is done for the purpose/s of providing assistance to District Migrant students and help them transition to and complete high school, prepared for success in college and career.

This job reports to Federal Programs Coordinator. Essential Functions: Assists Migrant students with personal and academic challenges through advocacy and advisement Assists in child study and 504 processes as needed by Migrant student Refers students, parents, and families to local social services agencies Refers Migrant students to program sponsored services (i.e. vision, dental) Regularly monitors Migrant student achievement through course grades, standardized test results, and attendance in order to refer for academic services, if needed, and to ensure student is on track to graduate Orients Migrant student with campus for successful transition Sponsors and attends extracurricular Migrant Education Program activities Communicates with Migrant student teachers regularly to identify any academic challenges or concerns Communicates with Migrant parents regarding Migrant Education Program information and student academic achievement Coordinates with campus Migrant School Community Liaison on services provided for Migrant students Assists parents during parent-teacher conferences and meetings Refers migrant students to club, activity and athletic coaches and advisors specific to the student interests Connects the migrant student personally with the guidance counselor Other Functions:

Composes a wide variety of materials (e.g. reports, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records; planning and managing projects. KNOWLEDGE is required to understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly, and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: business telephone etiquette; common office machines; concepts of grammar and punctuation; office methods and practices, and the ability to speak comfortably in front of large groups of people.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines.

Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedule; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with frequent interruptions; problem solving. Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others. Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 40% standing, and 20% walking. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. Experience: Experience in working with diverse populations is preferred.

Applicant should have oral and written proficiency in English and Spanish. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college experience is preferred.

Clearance: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and a clean driving record. FLSA Status:

Non-exempt; full time Salary: This is a 10 month position; Grade: VII This is a federally funded position and is subject to all federal rules and regulations and is contingent upon the availability of funding. " />
