Education:

Essential:

  • Master Degree

Graduation from a program for physician assistants approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) of the American Medical Association, and possess a baccalaureate degree. Post-graduate Fellowship in orthopedics or two years experience in a clinical orthopedic setting preferred.

Competencies and skills:

  • Performs history and physical assessments.

  • Assists in surgery.

  • Performs post-operative in-patient rounding.

  • Performs minor surgical procedures including casting

  • Performs health maintenance activities.

  • Administers preventative health care methods.

  • Interprets lab and x-ray results.

  • Serves as a patient educator.

  • Serves on-call responsibilities.

  • Performs possible in-patient health care.

  • Performs other functions as required.
