Candidate will support planning, execution, and integration of mechanical structural and testing in support of the Space Launch System (SLS) vehicle development.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides SLS Structures and Environments (STE) support in the mechanical structural design discipline for the SLS vehicle design.
Independently prepares (or directs others in the preparation of) criteria, computations/analyses, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports in a specific area of technical expertise.
Selects and applies engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity.
Creates 3D solid models and review of 2D drawings.
Reviews and evaluates the quantity, quality, and overall adequacy of results and conclusions drawn from accomplishment of engineering tasks.
Operates with general instructions; selected portions of work will be reviewed in detail to measure adequacy of approach, execution, and presentation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
A degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET accredited institution is required.
At least 10 years of experience.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Experience in launch vehicle structural dynamics analysis and test.
Experience as a senior engineer leading and working with teams and products needed to design, develop, analyze, integrate, simulate, and validate mathematical models of launch vehicle hardware and systems.
Expertise in complex system end-to-end development ranging from requirements development, environment definition, structural design, hardware integration, and flight verification that lead to flight certification.
Experience with launch vehicle elements, vehicle integration and analysis and with MSFC system engineering processes.
High proficiency in 3-D CAD including, but not limited to large assembly management, 2-D drafting, and Windchill product lifecycle management.
Experience with product review and validation procedure such as ISO-9001.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
