VIEW JOBS 11/13/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-11T00:00 Job ID : 82341BR Location : US - Wisconsin - Milwaukee : Job Description Position Summary The Senior BI Analyst will support the $1.8B Laboratory Products Division (LPD) division, part of the Life Sciences Group (LSG) within Thermo Fisher Scientific. The position will report directly to the Finance Director, LPD Global Data Governance & BI. The primary responsibility of the position will be to lead a major BI improvement project for the division (Project Gold). In addition, bringing expertise in both Finance and IT systems to assist in guiding the BI and Data Governance strategies of the division. Key responsibilities * Selecting, maintaining and managing a strong and suitably skilled team to deliver a world class set of BI tools for LPD initially covering daily reporting of Revenue, Bookings, Backlog and Inventory (Project Gold) * Providing leadership and guidance to the Project Gold team (6 stream leads, plus additional staff) to ensure deliverables are completed and deadlines are met * Setting up and maintaining appropriate project management structures to guide the project, report on results and deliver the required outcomes to division leadership * Co-ordinating change management processes at the local sites and in divisional functions for those impacted by changes initiated by Project Gold. Ensuring key processes continue and employees are supported during business process improvements * Plan for the long-term support needs of the Gold systems. This includes defining team structures and responsibilities for the group that will take over day to day running of the finished system, training and supporting that team. * Ensure the overall success of Project Gold * Establishing links with other internal resources working in the BI space within Thermo Fisher to share best practise and ensure alignment of the division's strategy with the overall corporate BI strategic direction. Emphasis on those in the same group (LSG) working collaboratively to develop a joint vision and roadmap for BI within the group. * Staying up to date with external developments in BI and bringing those to the team to consider * Building partnerships with customer facing functions of the division to understand their needs and bring the voice of the customer into all that the BI team do. * Championing proactive data quality clean-up efforts to address the end to end inherent data quality issues that face the division * Working with the Finance Director, LPD Global Data Governance & BI to develop the division's data governance strategy and execution and the structure of the team that will own that function. * Coaching and training as necessary for Finance staff at division and local sites, sharing good data management practices, and highlighting short and long-term impact of data decisions. * Promoting the value of a data management focused culture / mind-set; Monitor and communicate conformance with Finance data policies Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Characteristics * Bachelor's degree and/or MBA in Accounting or Finance. * 10+ years of experience managing complex projects preferably in large global company or in a consulting environment * Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail; ability to step back and analyze the overall business impact. * Demonstrates an understanding of the impact of problems across the organization and facilitates a collaborative solution * Proven success with change management and influencing others * Expertise with project and program management execution * Superior quantitative and analytical capabilities with advanced MS Office skills; Strong systems capabilities (Cognos, SQL, PowerBI, solid understanding of large database architecture). * Must be able to work well under pressure, handling multiple tasks in a complex environment with strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills. * Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, able to manage priorities and workflow. * Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences with strong facilitation skills * Ability to travel when required (up to 20%, including international travel). * The successful candidate is bright, personable, highly ethical, and thrives in a collaborative and changing environment. * Experience in a large, multi-currency, international operating company. * Can operate effectively in a matrixed reporting structure. * High level of energy; can bring a passion to excel. * Able to energize and influence a wide spectrum of people, including senior leadership team. * Assertive, yet collaborative in approach. * Possess a strong set of personal and business values that coincide with those of the 4I's (Integrity, Intensity, Innovation & Involvement). * Believes in and demands accountability. * Ability to thrive and manage in a complex business environment.
