Overview

Eagle Ray is seeking a mid-level data architect with experience supporting data analysis and modeling, data governance, and open source technologies to join an established team responsible for providing data architecture and data governance support for the agency. We are seeking an individual that loves technology, enjoys working with a diverse and accomplished team, and is motivated to help the customer meet critical mission requirements. Candidates must be well versed in enterprise and software technologies commensurate with their level of experience and have the ability to switch between "macro" and "micro" architecture tasks effectively and efficiently. This role will support a team with responsibilities varying from creating and demonstrating proof of concepts; developing reference architectures; to performing a variety of architecture analyses; and evaluating leading-edge technologies for use in the enterprise.

Responsibilities

Our customer seeks thought leadership. The successful candidate will also have strong oral and written communications skills and be able or present and explain architecture and technology related subjects to other technologists, operational/functional leadership, and users. Level II architects work closely with enterprise-level data governance teams, development teams, product owners and other stakeholders to provide schema design, standard reference data sets, and other data artifacts for implementation in systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Eligible for Public Trust

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent education, and/or

  • 5-10 years of data architecture experience

Desired:

  • Demonstrated experience translating business and technical requirements into comprehensive data management strategies and analytic solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply logical data models and other data analysis artifacts to the development of physical schema (database schema and JSON schema).

  • Demonstrated ability to architect and model mission critical OLTP, OLAP, ETL, BI solutions leveraging multiple DBMS technologies (SQL and noSQL)

  • Ability to develop and maintain good customer working relationships.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including abilities in analysis and problem solving.

  • Verbal and written communication capabilities, and skillful at facilitation and negotiation.

  • Ability to effectively respond to technical questions and issues and communicate complex technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Background and expertise in developing and managing data technologies, reusable data services, and related tools and technologies.

  • Working knowledge of and experience with IT Governance frameworks, concepts, methodologies and modeling techniques.

More About the Role: The Data Analytics Architect - Mid will support Analytics and Business Intelligence development and will focus on systems and databases needed in the analysis of mission critical data. The Lead Systems Administrator is responsible for: * Providing technical expertise in installing and maintaining a multitude of mission critical applications * Maintaining web application hosting systems to include web servers, database servers, and associated development systems * Administration, monitoring, security, and maintenance of virtual environments * Providing technical guidance to management, the team, and the customer regarding the implementation of highly advanced technical solutions * Troubleshooting to resolve hardware, software, and communications problems * Collaborating across teams to quickly adapt to emerging and dependent technologies * Continually interacting with teams to design and implement innovative solutions that will provide key decision-making abilities * Creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation including process diagrams, standard operating procedures, and system documentation as it relates to implementation, maintenance, and optimization * Reviewing performance and capacity planning reports and makes recommendations to management * Proposing and implementing enhancements that will improve performance and reliability of existing web-based systems * Delivering assignments within established deadlines while keeping management well-informed on a timely basis of progress, status and/or concerns for each assignment * Assisting with the design, development, implementation, maintenance and optimization of a variety of databases and systems to include designing logical and physical database structures, partitioning of tables, data loading and validation, all aspects of security, monitoring, and performance tuning * Design and manage application and database migration activities You'll Bring These Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and 6 years of applicable experience. * Experience installing and maintaining a multitude of mission critical applications * Experience maintaining system reliability and uptime of production applications * Experience deploying and maintaining physical and virtual environments * Experience with all facets of systems administration supporting a variety of applications on Windows and Linux servers * Experience with developing scripts for automation of build-out, maintenance, and configuration of virtualized systems * Experience with the administration and maintenance of a variety of highly complex databases (typically SQL Server, Teradata, DB2, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL) and security and access methods. * Strong knowledge of automated tools for database design and implementation * Ability to embrace and lead technological change and development * Experience with creating, updating, and maintaining technical documentation including process diagrams, standard operating procedures, and system documentation as it relates to implementation, maintenance, and optimization * Experience with developing procedures relating to database and application security including procedures by which access is authorized, enabled, changed and withdrawn * Implement, maintain and test Disaster Recovery methodology for production systems. * Experience with threshold forecasting, sizing, capacity planning, and trend analysis. These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: * Experience designing, configuring and implementing AWS environments, including auto scaling resources to respond to changes in demand * Experience installing, implementing, and maintaining Tableau Server * Experience installing, implementing, and maintaining IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) Opal w/ i2 Connect * Experience with litigation support, investigations, or administering Litigation Support tools Physical Demands: * Normal demands associated with an office environment. * Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. * Some travel may be required.
