QUALIFICATIONS: As set by State Board of Education, and the USD 307 Board of Education

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SUPERVISES: Students, teacher aides, and volunteers as assigned

JOB GOAL: To help students master subject matter specified by the district`s curriculum guides, to help students demonstrate that mastery as it relates to defined curriculum outcomes, and to help students develop into mature, able and responsible citizens.

DUTIES: The employee must:

1.Set high expectations for learning for all students based on their individual needs.

2.Monitor the progress of individual students and student groups through the use of appropriate testing techniques and with the assistance of technology when appropriate.

3.Create a safe and orderly environment which facilitates positive behavior and learning for all students.

4.Follow prescribed district curriculum guidelines.

5.Use a variety of instructional materials, activities and approaches appropriate to the needs of individual learners.

6.Develop and monitor plans of improvement for students who are academically deficient.

7.Support the mission of the school and district.

8.Participate in professional development activities.

9.Assist students in the development of appropriate communication skills.

10. Assist students in the development of thinking skills.

11. Facilitate cooperation between all persons in the school community.

12. Recognize the signs of emotional/physical distress in students and take appropriate action when necessary.

13. Follow district policies, handbooks, and regulations.

14. Supervise students adequately as assigned.

15. Use effective written and spoken language.

16. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and in accordance with the provisions of the USD 307 Board of Education.

Benefits Information

USD 307 pays for $600 towards the District Health Insurance as well as $70 per month toward a 403b Retirement Plan. We offer 13 discretionary leave days and a teacher-friendly calendar. We have a grant fund for teachers to receive assistance with paying for advanced degree college courses. The Cardinal Foundation offers mini-grants yearly to assist teachers with additional needs.

The district includes an elementary school (PreK-6), located one mile west of Salina and a Junior/Senior High located 15 miles west of Salina in Brookville.
