Position: Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer

Location: Irvine, CA

Position Description:

DZYNE Technologies is building a highly skilled team that thrives in the design, development, test and manufacturing of intelligent, autonomous vehicles. This role will work in a vehicle development and manufacturing environment where projects are realized with the highest degree of commitment to quality and efficiency.

The Mechanical Engineer in this position will be responsible for a wide gamut of mechanical engineering tasks including vehicle design, payload integration, structural modifications, mechanism design, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and be able to work well both on an individual basis and in a team environment. The candidate must be able to function and communicate in an interdisciplinary team (Aero, Electrical, Software, etc.).

Essential Functions:

  • Apply Mechanical Engineering knowledge to create integration solutions

  • Collaborate in small to medium size teams in an advanced development environment

  • Communicate effectively with technicians and shop leads

  • Build, characterize, analyze, test, and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

  • Collaborate other engineering disciplines throughout the product lifecycle

  • Create and present technical slides to peers and management

  • Create Parts, Assemblies, and Drawings using the latest CAD software

  • Create Instructions for manufacturing and test

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) from an accredited university

  • At least 5 years engineering experience in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or other technical industry

  • Experience taking products from concept through detailed design, build and test

  • Experience with design, build, and test of integrated mechanical assemblies

  • Troubleshooting experience

  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME 14.5

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio for documentation, communication and presentation of work products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fabrication or machine shop experience

  • Working knowledge of basic aircraft aerodynamics and performance

  • Experience with mechatronic system design and integration

  • Experience developing and integrating new capabilities into existing military aircraft systems.

  • Experience with MIL-STD-810 or DO-160 for aircraft environmental engineering.

  • Experience integrating COTS solutions into military aircraft systems.

  • Experience with integrating communication systems into military aircraft (Electronics Packaging, Antenna Placement, Connectorization).

  • Knowledge of test equipment and instrumentation (Strain Gauges, Accelerometers, Thermocouples, etc.)

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD Software

  • AIAA Design Build Fly, Formula SAE, or other collegiate team experience is a plus

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) from an accredited university

  • At least 5 years engineering experience in aerospace or related technology field with at least 3 years' experience in a rapid development environment

Physical Requirements:

  • This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions

  • This position may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Salary: $110k-$150k

Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.

Pay Range: $100,000 - $150,000 per hour
