Role description

Project: SFPUC Microsoft Teams Unified Communications

Under general direction, the 1043 Senior IS Engineer will support, implement, manage, troubleshoot, and maintain the SFPUC's Microsoft 365 Enterprise Cloud Applications with a focus on Microsoft Teams Phone System and Productivity solutions in support of the SFPUC's hybrid workforce. These include Microsoft 365 Enterprise Applications, Microsoft Teams Phone System, AudioCodes VoIP Solutions, various cybersecurity technologies and service monitoring technologies. Will work closely with other Senior and Principal engineers and be responsible for the daily support and administration of these solutions. This includes proactive monitoring of services to ensure operational efficiency, evaluating the soundness of changes and associated risks, troubleshooting problems arising in the service environment, and assuming responsibility for the regular maintenance of supported solutions.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Meetings & Audio Conferencing

  • Messaging Apps (Chat/Channels)

  • Teams Security & Compliance

  • AudioCodes VoIP Systems

  • VoIP Desktop Phones

  • Session Border Controllers (SBCs)

  • AudioCodes One Voice Operations Center

  • Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Administration

  • Windows Deployment & Servicing (WDS) including creation of master images for all endpoints including desktops, laptops and tablets

  • Configuration and Profile management via Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune)

  • Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administration

  • Active Directory device and user administration

  • Microsoft Exchange Online mailbox and resources

  • User mailbox provisioning and deprovisioning

  • Resource mailboxes

  • Application deployment and administration (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Authentication and access management

  • Enterprise Mobility and Security - identity and endpoint security

  • Cybersecurity Technologies

  • Endpoint Security agent/client deployment

  • Remediation of detected events as assigned

  • E-mail hygiene and web filtering

  • Application & Network monitoring services

  • Paessler PRTG Core Server Infrastructure

  • Distributed probe services

  • Application & device sensors

  • Provide level 3+ problem determination and technical support for desktop, application, and network issues

  • Log, track and monitor all problems and requests

  • Work with IT Customer Service Center (ITCSC) staff and site administrators to resolve problems and fulfill IT service requests

The 1043 Senior IS Engineer will perform other related duties and project work as assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:

Three (3) years of experience planning, configuring, installing, and/or maintaining the components of a Voice over IP telephony infrastructure. Ideal candidate will have recent experience working with Microsoft Teams Phone System and/or AudioCodes Session Border Controllers.

How to qualify

Education:

An associate degree in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units [i.e., at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in computer science or a closely-related field]. AND

Experience:

Three (3) years of experience analyzing, installing, configuring, enhancing, and/or maintaining the components of an enterprise network.

Substitution:

Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units/ forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in computer science or a closely related field.
