Windows Desktop Engineer

Windows Desktop Engineer to support the Northern Virginia user base plus satellite offices and remote users. The work will be onsite at the office in McLean, VA.

We are searching for an experienced Desktop Engineer with a strong Windows background who enjoys working with users to build, deploy and troubleshoot their work environment.

The Desktop Engineer will need extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and some experience with PowerShell.

The position is a contract to hire with a conversion salary in the 75-95K range.

Key Responsibilities :

* Develop Windows Desktop images for automated deployment.

* Manage patching and software release distributions to Windows desktop systems using SCCM 2012

* Understand optimized enterprise architecture, configuration and change/release management policies and procedures

* Deploy approved release packages and break-fix solutions

* Provide day-to-day operational support for Windows devices.

* Provide on-call after hours support on rotation.

* Use software tools and custom scripts using PowerShell to automate processes and improve operations.

* Troubleshoot and resolve issues as required. Propose and implement changes to improve service.

* Implement new technologies in the customer environment.

* Troubleshoot technical problems and issues, conduct research and analysis and offer solutions to the technical issues requiring deep technical knowledge and understanding


* Bachelor's degree a plus

* 4 - 8 years of relevant experience

* Experience in design, create, test and maintain internal Windows Client Imaging infrastructure.

* Experience with application Packaging and distribution using SCCM

* Experience with Patching of Windows OS using device management tool like Microsoft SCCM.

* Experience managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, Group Policy, WMI, Microsoft office including O365 plus common hardware, software, networking and peripherals.

* Knowledge and experience with scripting tool such as PowerShell, Visual Basic etc.
