Role Description:

The Microsoft BI and Integration Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining DC Water's mission critical Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and applications including but not limited to High Usage Notification Alert and Consecutive Usage Alert systems. This position is responsible for testing and implementation as well as supporting post implementation components of the core AMI application and components utilizing the meter reading information supplied by AMI.

The employee must be highly adept at identifying user needs, gathering, and analyzing requirements, translating them into software requirements and working with the other Principals/Lead Engineers, Architects and Cyber Security Professionals to build and deploy high quality reliable and sustainable solutions that meet or exceed our business partner expectations. The employee must have expertise in data management, data warehousing and SQL concepts and applications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the client community to identify business challenges that can benefit from the application of information technology.

  • Gather and translate user requirements into technical requirements that address business challenges.

  • Design and develop solutions that leverage all elements of the IT stack including but not limited to core applications in customer service, finance and operations, AMI systems, data warehouses, business intelligence and data analytics solutions.

  • Provide support for regular updates of the AMI application and infrastructure and solutions that rely on the AMI technology stack.

  • Provide recommendations to management and implement action plans to improve performance and cost effectiveness.

  • Provide detailed technical training, mentorship, peer review, and/or guidance to others.

  • Apply technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Key Working Relationships: Interacts with employees throughout DC Water including senior and executive management, officials, representatives; staff from various regulatory agencies; and vendors.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience:

Five (5) years' experience in administering and supporting AMI and/or similar systems; or a High School Diploma or equivalency and nine (9) years' experience in administering and supporting AMI and/or similar systems.

Five(5) years' experience utilizing and integrating applications with XML, SOAP,REST, YAML, SQL, .NET and/or JAVA as well as MS-SQL databases.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university.

Required Skills: Database programming languages (SQL, PL/SQL, or T-SQL) Data warehousing concepts and methodologies Data management tools and technologies (Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL) Power BI development/reporting AMI system infrastructure (meters, meter transmitting units, repeaters, and other communication system components). Software troubleshooting IBM Maxi Microsoft Power Platform Microsoft Power BI Cloud Technologies (Azure, Data Factory, Date Lake, Data Warehouse Solutions) Required Licenses & Certifications:
