ABB is seeking a Service Engineer for its Wauwatosa, Wisconsin office. This role is responsible for reporting to the Service Manager Microgrids & Battery Energy Storage Systems, the Field Service Engineer will perform Preventative Maintenance, Upgrades, trouble shooting and warranty repairs on Power Grid Grid Automation's installed base as well as participating in Factory Testing and Commissioning activities.
Senior professionals ( > 5 years of work experience)
Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsible for working in a safe manner at all times.
Perform preventive maintenance work according to work instructions at customer sites.
Provide accurate service reports describing issues and actions taken during service trips.
Provide phone support and remote diagnostics.
Troubleshoot equipment located at customer sites.
Actively participate in product/system Factory Testing (FAT) within ABB facilities.
Perform start-up and commissioning services at customer locations (SAT).
Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and/or project work. Provide suggestions based on field experience, to improve the products.
Prepare and perform customer training at ABB as well as at customer facilities.
Travel extensively within NA
Ideally this role could be filled at more senior level should the candidate meet the following requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of five years of experience in either field service (troubleshooting and repair) or electrical design of microgrid systems (battery storage, inverters).
Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States
Understanding of, and hands on experience with Power Electronics products/systems such as Energy Storage (ESS), Statcom and Static Frequency Converters (SFC). Experience with current ABB products such as PCS100, ACS800.
Understanding of, and hands on experience with PLC components and programming. Experience with current ABB products such as AC800M, AC500, RTU.
Demonstrated knowledge in understanding of electrical and control schematics.
