Schedule/Shift: 0.001 (PRN-Per Diem), As Needed

POSITION SUMMARY:

Handlesand prepares multiple specimen types for culture setup. Performs routine maintenance duties such asmonitoring equipment, preparing reagents, reviewing specimen logs, answeringcalls for specimen collection and results.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: none

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good judgment, common sense, ability to follow directions.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Some college or vocational level science (Chemistry and/or Biology) and/or laboratory classes

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Minimum: Excellentverbal and written communication skills, problem solving, critical thinkingability, Able to read doctor's orders & patient info on specimens.

Able to write neatly in order to labelspecimens, document issues/problems and to maintain logs of specimensreceived Able to perform non-complexarithmetic calculations in order to mix laboratory solutions. Basic chemistry/biology knowledge. . Familiarity with basic laboratory terminology.

The Registered Nurse is responsible forpatient assessment, development, implementation and coordination of thepatients' plan of care including the medical treatment plan and the evaluationof patient treatment.
