The mission and goal for Microbiology Laboratory and Sterilization Technical Services is to provide world class support by conducting microbiology testing, environmental testing and sterilization support for all the CONMED locations. We are seeking a Microbiologist Intern to join our team starting in June 2021.

As a Microbiologist Intern, you will acquire various skills and knowledge, including:

Proper Aseptic testing technique
Proper laboratory cleaning practices
How to author microbiology protocols
How to properly soil a medical device instrument

Intern Responsibilities:

Perform Biological indicator testing
Perform Bioburden testing
Manufacture Biological indicators to support the sterilization process
Work on cleaning studies/validations
IQ/OQ for new and existing lab equipment
Sterilization Adoption by Equivalency
Maintain laboratory cleanliness according to established schedules and procedures

The Microbiologist Intern's work will help support three CONMED locations with Microbiology testing. The intern will also help/assist in ensuring the CONMED sterilization network doesn't have any delays pertaining to Gamma and EO sterilization.

Position Requirements:

Pursuing completion of a bachelors or masters degree in microbiology or a closely related field
Laboratory experience in medical device highly preferred
Must be available to work onsite in the Largo, FL facility
Must be available to work forty hours per week, Monday - Friday, June 1 - July 30, 2021
