Job Description

Teva is searching for a Microbiologist III to join our team in Irvine, CA!

The Microbiologist III has a high level of expertise in most areas of the departmental functions, develops methods, and resolves technical issues. You will train and review the work of less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians and provide guidance to junior colleagues in the absence of supervisory staff.

You will:

  • Perform Microbiological testing on Raw Material, Finished Products and Stability samples including: Sterility Testing, Bacterial Endotoxin testing, Particulate Matter testing, Bioburden test, Antibiotic assays, Microbial Limits test, Preservative Effectiveness test, Container Closure Integrity test and Bacterial Retention tests

  • Develop and Validate new test methods

  • Write Protocol, review data and write final reports. Schedule, plan perform and ensure assigned tasks and projects completed in a timely manner. Prepare reports for other Microbiological tests.

  • Train and review work of less senior level Microbiologists / Technicians.

  • Provide assistance to management in investigations for OOS conditions.

  • Follow Teva Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science degree, preferably with a Microbiology focus required. MS in Microbiology or related sciences preferred.

  • 5 years relevant progressive experience in a Microbiology laboratory required.

  • 4 years of experience in a Pharmaceutical/Aseptic filling environment.

  • Working knowledge of cGMPs, GLP, FDA guidelines, USP and EP and other applicable industry regulatory requirements required.

  • Thorough understanding of microbiological testing, good documentation practices and data integrity and strong understanding of compendia required

  • Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle and manufacturing/quality systems such as LIMS, TrackWise preferred.

  • Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMs) preferred

  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to interact positively and collaborate with co-workers, management and other internal stakeholders.

  • Self-directed with ability to plan, organize and prioritize work. Capable of scheduling, planning and working independently.

  • Detail oriented with ability to identify errors and/or inconsistencies while performing tasks.

Position Requirements Education Required: B.S. in Microbiology or related sciences with 2 years of Microbiology course work. Education Preferred M.S. in Microbiology or related sciences with 3-4 years of Microbiology course work. Experience Required: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Microbiology Lab with at least 4 years in a pharmaceutical/aseptic filling environment. Experience Preferred: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a Microbiology lab with at least 2 years in a pharmaceutical/ aseptic filling industry. Specialized or Technical Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications needed: Thorough knowledge of all areas of testing in a pharmaceutical Microbiology laboratory. Good knowledge of cGMPs, GLP, FDA guidelines, USP and EP. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good Computer skills. Competencies: Please list five or six areas of competencies below that are necessary for the incumbent to do this position and that distinguish it from others similar to it.
