Position Summary: The Mental Health Specialistis responsible for providing approved MHR services to recipients assigned to them.
Meets the following criteria:
1. Has a Master of Social Work degree or a Master of Arts degree in a mental health related field or a Master of Science degree in a mental health related field or a Master of Education degree in a mental health related field.
2. Has a minimum of 15 hours of graduate level course work and/or practicum experience in applied intervention strategies/methods designed to address behavioral and/or emotional and/or mental problems. These hours may be obtained as a part of or in addition to the Master's degree.
Major Task List:
1. Provides community support work counseling to recipients, as assigned.
2. Accepts assignment as Primary Community Support Worker and performs responsibly in this role.
3. May provide Group Psychosocial Skills Training to recipients, as assigned.
4. Participates in staff training assignments, as requested.
5. Submit accurate and complete weekly counseling notes and service logs.
6. Participates in the agency's Performance Improvement initiative.
7. Performs other non-direct service activities as requested by CEO, COO, or Program Director.
8. Accepts supervision from LMHP and agency management team.
9. Attend/conduct weekly staffing.
10. Communicates effectively and in a timely manner with other clinical/administrative staff, as needed for client related issues.
11. Functions well in a crisis, using good judgment and keeping appropriate staff informed.
12. Assess, review or monitor a recipient's status in relation to rehabilitation.
13. Identify, report and maintain weekly appointments for community resources.
14. Effectively plans work.
15. Works independently, as needed.

Familiarity with community resources is a plus. Reliable transportation is mandatory.
