This position will service all Waccamaw Center for Mental Health Clinics which includes Myrtle Beach/South Strand, Kingstree, Georgetown and Conway. State vehicle transportation is provided. Please pay special attention to licensure requirements.

This position MAY be eligible for SCDMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

This is a supervisory position that leads the Assertive Community Treatment Team in providing evidenced based services in an intensive non-residential treatment and rehabilitative services in accordance with the fidelity model. This is a single fixed point of responsibility for treatment, rehabilitation and support needs for patient with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). These individuals require higher levels of community care and have not been well supported in lower-level care options.

Essential Job Functions:

Oversees the administrative operation of the team consisting of two other employees.

Provides clinical oversight of services ensuring patients are seen in accordance with their needs and the delivery of best and ethical practices.

Provides direct services to ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) service beneficiaries.

Ensures all services are documented in accordance with SCDMH (South Carolina Department of Mental Health) QA (Quality Assurance) requirements.

Provides direct supervision to ACT team members to include, but not limited to, facilitating clinical supervisor meetings, treatment team meetings, coordination training for team and completing evaluations.

Maintains a department commitment to cultural affairs and guarantees all direct reports have a cultural affairs component to his or her EPMS (Employee Performance Management System) planning document as a measurable objective.

Complies with Corporate Compliance Policy and Risk Management Plan and certifies completion of prior authorizations.

Pursues professional development through collegial consultation, continuing education and licensure.

Practical therapeutic knowledge of principles, methods and counseling practices and procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of serious and persistent mental illness.

Ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas so that others will comprehend and follow.

Knowledge of psychology, family dynamics, family and group psychotherapy.

The capability to identify and effectively utilize resources available to the community to accomplish objectives.

Competency to create and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines.

Must be able to present clear and comprehensive oral and written reports to co-workers and others.

Time management and organizational skills are essential.

A high degree of independence, self-motivation will be expected in this role. Position will receive supervision, guidance and direction from assigned clinical supervisor.

Activities of the employee are governed by the SCDMH and WCMH policies and procedures.

Ability to lift at least 5 pounds and operate a state vehicle are essential. Must have a clean driving record of 10 years.

Position is considered to be essential and may be called back during crises, disasters and emergencies, and is part of the Assertive Community Treatment Plan that has been selected, along with other mental health centers, to re-engage the ACT Program.

This position does require some flexibility in one's schedule at times.

Services are delivered in the community and in patient's homes.

Position involves servicing all WCMH Clinics and a state vehicle will be provided. Must have a clean driving record and provide Department of Motor Vehicle 10-year certified driving record.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirement: A master's degree in guidance, counseling or the social sciences or a related field, and professional experience in a mental health, human service or social services programs. Applicant must provide evidence of clinical experience in direct patient care and experience can include the following: practicum or internship, or post-graduate clinical experience of at least one year. Must be a licensed psychologist, LISW-CP,) Licensed Independent Social Work

  • Clinical Practice) LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist).

Three years' experience working with adults diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness.

Minimum two years post graduate experience.

Supervisory experience an agency preference.

Clinical Assessment

  • Practice with Family Therapy (DSM) - or any related assessment course

Ethics Course - related to medical profession.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
