Job Responsibilities

With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

This position is located at 2100 Charlie Hall Boulevard, Charleston, SC 29414.

Under general supervision, will provide mental health counseling and case management services to adults, children, and families open to the Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center. Services to be provided as a therapist for mental health court.

Therapist will provide quality person-center care as demonstrated by the use of evidence-based clinical interventions, and all forms of direct services as credentialed by DMH in an efficient manner as evidence by meeting the established productivity expectation.

Therapist will also perform non-billable tasks for Mental Health Court patients as deemed necessary by the Judge.

Expectation of meeting patients where they are (physically; at home; or in the community) to include safety in the field training.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements:

A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Agency (DMH) Minimum Requirements:

A master's or doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by SCDMH.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services; considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric setting; working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies ; ability to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.
