This position helps make gospel teachings, resources and services accessible to all in a simple and affordable way, supporting the mission of the Church.
This position is deployed to and integrates throughout the Church Welfare Department as an expert sourcing partner. The successful candidate optimizes preferred supplier relationships and provides optimal value (price, quality and timely delivery) for purchased and outsourced products and services. She/he works with leaders, teams and individuals at all levels throughout the Welfare Department to expertly source business and operations solutions.
She/he will skillfully assist internal partners by:
Exceeding performance commitments by understanding partner needs and strategic priorities
Eliminating costly uninfluenced spend (i.e., purchases not made through preferred suppliers and agreements)
Helping to ensure that ethical business practices with outside suppliers are maintained by team and partner associates
To accomplish this, she/he will:
Manage numerous, cross-organizational strategic partner, peer and supplier relationships and numerous and varied contracts with varying degrees of spend.
Demonstrate a breadth and depth of multi-industry specialization and authority gained from broad experience in those industries
Lead cross-organizational product selection and sourcing teams, qualify potential suppliers, lead multifaceted negotiations and legally contract for needed products and services
Discover and leverage all planned expenditures across the enterprise to obtain the best value
Understand customer and internal partner needs in Welfare Production & Distribution, Emergency Response, Deseret Manufacturing, Deseret Industries, LDS Humanitarian and Welfare area offices
Design, document and effectively present solutions to partners and ensure that both product and service needs of sponsoring organizations are optimally satisfied: understand and articulate industry trends and recommend appropriate action and direction
Manage supplier, consultant and professional group relationships and serve as a product and industry authority
Leverage global Church expenditures to qualify, select, negotiate with and establish legal contracts with the best possible suppliers of products and services at the best value and ensure supplier performance of contracted terms and conditions
Requires a business related Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. Requires 7-10 years of proven industry track record of successful product and/or project management combined with consistent accomplishments in customer service. Experience in developing and rolling out business plans. Candidates must have extensive experience, 4 years, in supplier management, negotiations, and contract development. CPM or CPSM certifications are preferred. Well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to successfully resolve conflicts, mediate differences, and recommend solutions are needed. Must have extensive experience and specialization in at least one specific industry, (Travel, Furnishing, Automotive, etc.). Must have excellent writing skills.
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy.
