Northrop Grumman is seeking a talented and experienced Software Manager to join its dynamic team in Annapolis,

Maryland. The Software Manager will focus on two primary areas of responsibility: team leadership and management, and team technical performance.

Responsibilities include the oversight and addressing of cost, schedule, and technical quality for development efforts. There is additional functional oversight of approximately 10 software engineers of varied disciplines working multiple programs, IRAD, and new business capture opportunities with strategic importance for large downstream value.

The Software Manager will also be responsible for staffing and workload forecast; support and adherence to standard software processes; lessons learned; and employee engagement, mentoring and career development, including training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs. The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area.

The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver. The Software Manager will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. Basic Qualifications:

Candidate must possess, at a minimum, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a technical area. Minimum 9 years of experience in a software engineering discipline.

The candidate must have experience in a technical leadership role on a software project. Exposure to all aspects of the software engineering process, from requirements analysis through verification testing. Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Effective communication and presentation skills. High proficiency in technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring.

This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen; ability to obtain a Top Secret and Special Access clearances may be required for this position.

Active TS / SCI w/ poly

Masters' degree in a relevant technical or management specialty

This is a dual role in a matrix organization encompassing both people leadership and direct technical performance. This position will manage staff who may support multiple programs, projects and initiatives. The position is located specifically in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The role will is composed of two areas of responsibility: Team Leadership and Management: Ensures her/his team has a clear purpose and clear roles; Communicates information to employees in a timely manner to help them to be productive and engaged; Gives direct feedback to people on her/his team about their performance and potential in the organization; Is a talent scout who excels at finding and developing next-generation talent; Finds targeted development assignments for employees on her/his team who will become next generation leaders; Is a role model for diversity and inclusion through seeking out and including diverse opinions and perspectives; Proactively confronts inappropriate behaviors in an effective way. Ensures that the technical requirements of supported programs are being met by the personnel within the discipline team. Team Technical Performance: The candidate should have a technical performance role currently in place or can be placed into an open software role that can account for at least 80% of their time. Technical performance responsibilities will vary based on current role. The position requires the leader to communicate not just with Program managers, but also with other Cyber SE department managers, as well as the larger E&S organization. Consequently, excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. The candidate will work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines in and out of the Eastern region, Agile Hiring Teams, program directors and program managers. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills to achieve sustainable top performance. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This candidate will demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate. Demonstrated abilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching, are a must. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities.
