Position Title: Manager, Sales & Operations Planning

Reports to: Mgr., Sales & Operations Support

Location: Atlanta, Georgia

This individual will develop, lead, and manage the sales and operations planning process for beverage. The primary goal of this role will be to ensure alignment of resources to satisfy customer demand, manufacturing load optimization, and continue to improve GPI results. This role with work diligently with Operations, Sales, IT, Supply Chain, Finance, Sales & Ops Support, and our customers to develop plans to ensure budget alignment, balance medium term (12-18 months) supply and demand, develop master data, and drive countermeasures as necessary.

This role will report directly to the Sr. Manager, Operations Planning with a matrix management responsibility over plant scheduling. This role will have oversight of sales and operations planning for approximately $700+ million of revenue across more than 8 GPI converting facilities.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

Specific Outcomes:

  • As the leader of the sales and operations planning process this role will develop, refine, and publish a monthly (12-18 month rolling) load plan to balance capacity while identifying the critical resources of people, equipment, and inventory based upon the forecasted Demand Plan. This function will sit in between and should connect the Long-Range Business Plan with the short-term Master Schedule. In conjunction with FP&A, identify the relative cost/benefit of these plans for Managements review and approval.

  • Maintain and update the 12-month rolling Fiber Balance that is consistent with the latest consensus demand outlook.

  • Develop inventory plan as an output of the capacity plan. Monitor and project inventory changes to insure divisional cash flow targets are met.

  • Create a holistic approach to maintaining data quality standards across multiple system platforms (i.e. SAP, BI, QlikView,, Load Plan and Scheduling Optimization Software) and ensure compliance with corporate requirements established by the Director of Corporate Compliance and Enterprise wide Master Data.

  • Implement and leverage the capability of a system wide scheduling software and optimization package across the GPI network of converting plants.

  • Identify and implement opportunities aimed at reducing converting costs, mill and customer freight, and improving mill trim. Identify enablers and roadblocks and work with commercial and plant management to implement opportunities.

  • Support the monthly close process, Day 10 financial reporting, and annual Sales Planning Process.

  • Assist/Facilitate New Business Transfer process to ensure the successful onboarding of new business and business transfers.

  • Develop and maintain contingency plans for major customers and plants to include back-up plans on major volume items.

  • Anticipate and support special projects, including but not limited to, strike contingency plans, new equipment studies, equipment modifications, plant rationalizations, mergers, acquisitions, etc.

  • Communicate recommendations and general updates to senior leadership team through regular reporting and ad-hoc presentations

Key Requirements

  • 4-yr degree in business, operational management, or supply chain preferred

  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required

  • 8+ years of experience in S&OP desired

  • Advanced computer skills in Excel and Power Point a must; knowledge of SAP preferred.

  • APICS CPIM certification desired.

  • Ability to travel 10-15% is required
