ROLE

This position is responsible for planning, managing, and coordinating manufacturing activities to maximize supply chain and facility productivity and profitability and finished product quality, in accordance with company policies and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Manages, directs and supervises manufacturing staff and on-site quality assurance. Manages all GMP packaging operations for powders, capsules, drying, blending, both automated and manual. Maintains all safety rules, SOPs in accordance with all company and outside regulatory policies and rules.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Directs manufacturing and quality staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Planning, directing and coordinating manufacturing activities toward the accomplishment of company safety, quality, service, value and teamwork goals, while executing production plans as provided.

  • Manages all activities of the packaging operations.

  • Overseeing the creation, revision, and installation of strategic and tactical plans that provide the direction and focus needed to successfully achieve our business objectives, including employee safety and quality.

  • Formulating and implementing manufacturing policies and procedures that support divisional and corporate objectives, including conducting periodic reviews while taking corrective action as appropriate.

  • Identifying asset reconfiguration needs and creating and executing action plans, accordingly, including eliminating bottlenecks at current plants for the purpose of creating flexibility, agility and least cost service advancement.

  • Cooperates with the Quality Control and Quality Assurance Department to ensure compliance with all quality SOPs. Supports the Quality and technical departments with any audits, be they GMP Certifications, Organic Certifications, or Audits by Government Regulatory Agencies.

  • Assessing current yield performance, studying the factors behind poor yield, and implementing appropriate steps to improve yield at each production facility.

  • Maintains operating costs within budget.

  • Ensures the manufacturing and packaging operations comply with safety, quality, and cGMP requirements.

  • Assisting Quality Assurance and other functions with items such as new product development and improved customer relations and customer satisfaction.

  • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by ensuring proper maintenance; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.

  • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.

  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

  • Regular and punctual attendance and physical presence in the workplace.

  • Directly supervises the Manufacturing Supervisors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; assuring all company rules and regulations are followed. Must have excellent leadership skills in a manufacturing setting.

  • Responsible for safety performance in respective area. Ensures the implementation of, adherence to, and enforcement of workplace health and safety requirements. Ensures activities are completed to promote and enforce safe behaviors by supervisors and employees. Ensures injury prevention efforts are effectively implemented. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.

WHO YOU ARE

  • At least 5 years of manufacturing experience in the nutraceutical industry

  • Previous Experience in supervision of teams, managing manufacturing processes, tracking budget expenses, production planning, controls and instrumentation, strategic planning, dealing with complexity, financial planning and strategy, dietary supplements or food manufacturing

  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all workplace health and safety procedures.

  • Hands on lean manufacturing experience

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university, preferably a B.S. in Food Science, Industrial Engineering, or Management;

  • Eight or more years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Food or dietary supplements experience preferred but will consider pharmaceutical and food manufacturing experience. Recent cGMP experience is required.

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of company management and outside agencies.

  • Bi-lingual skills is a plus.

  • Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills required.

  • Excellent time management, and strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, listening, decision-making, and organization skills required.

  • Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills needed, including coaching, team-building and training skills.
