Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector has an opening for a Structural Design Section Manager. This leadership position will be located at our Manned Aircraft Design COE in Melbourne, FL, and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.
Manage the functional activities of approximately 8-12 Structural Design Engineers within a program. Team engagement is a key focus. The ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others is required.
Specific responsibilities include structural design technical and process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions.
Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, reduction in force actions, recruiting of personnel, and working to ensure that designers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed.
The Section Manager will also perform IPT Structural Design tasks, which will comprise the majority of the candidates work statement. Work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages.

Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of STEM related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of experience.
Experience designing aircraft primary and/or secondary structures using metallic and/or composite materials.
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance and Special Program Access.
Current, active, in-scope DoD Secret security clearance
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts.
Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including NX Solid Modelling, CAD, CATIA V5, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is advantageous.
Proficiency with TeamCenter.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously.
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
