Job Designation

The Manufacturing Operations Manager effectively leads and develops the Manufacturing Operations Team, to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching strategic goals. Manages manufacturing and operations processes to ensure sufficient quantities of quality product on time and on budget, in order to meet marketplace demand.

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages and develops the Manufacturing Operation team, to obtain optimum productivity, while reaching strategic goals

  • Provides general logistics support to manufacturing floor such as processing material requisitions, sub-assembly paperwork closure and material relocation

  • Delivers quality products, on time and on budget

  • Manages crisis resolution to ensure continuous flow of operation under designated budget

  • Ensures that resources are utilized effectively and drives improvements

  • Promotes a safe work environment with an ultimate goal of zero accidents

  • Leads and directs work for team of employees as defined by business needs

  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Job Specifications

Education : Post-Secondary Engineering degree desired or equivalent of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations

Certifications :

Years Experience : 7- 10 years of relevant experience

Skills :

  • Strong ability to lead, plan and direct Manufacturing and Operations activities

  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes, tools and standard operating procedures, in aerospace or automotive industry

  • Demonstrated use of the latest technology to enhance the growth of an organization

  • Solid analytical skills and judgment to proactively identify and solve increasingly complex problems

  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database management tools

Start YOUR career with DHL today… We currently have need for a 1st shift Operations Manager at our CVG Hub in Erlanger, Kentucky. This position will be responsible for establishing and executing the policies and procedures necessary to manage the physical manipulation of express cargo within, into, and out of the CVG hub in a safe but expedited manner while ensuring that the entire process meets customer and internal requirements. Key Accountabilities: * Manages and coordinates Hub operational activities to ensure the safe, timely and cost effective processing of air express cargo freight. * Implements and directs quality control program for all operational areas. * Establishes, monitors, and revises policies, procedures, and service standards for hub operations. * Directs and ensures compliance with established DHL corporate, hub, gateway and airline policies, procedures and standards in accordance with government regulations. * Establishes and maintains a record keeping system for all hub warehouse operations regarding volume, damages, safety incidents, productivity, etc. * Communicates with some or all of the following: systems operations control, load control, facilities maintenance, sort, ramp, gateway and US Customs to ensure efficient and safe operation of the hub. * Oversees the loading and unloading of ULDs. * Supervises the identification and segregation of non-conforming and dangerous goods cargo and informs the applicable department according to proper processes and procedures. * Manages 2-5 subordinates; responsible for hiring, coaching, training, and developing staff. Key Requirements: * 4 years experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse or industry related field preferred * Minimum 2 (two) years of supervisory/managerial experience required * BS/BA (preferred) with previous supervisory experience * Advanced Level Skills in MS Word and Excel * Strong communication (oral and written) skills * Able to develop and promote personnel * Candidates should expect that flexibility will be needed in their work schedule DHL is an equal opportunity employer.
