Job Purpose

Progress Rail is seeking an Automation Manager to support and develop the automation infrastructure for the Advanced Rail Technology team in Fort Worth, TX.

The Automation Manager supports the Advanced Rail Technology projects:

  • Onboard test automation strategy, framework, and infrastructure;

  • Infrastructure to support the CICD and release pipeline for onboard software and internal tooling;

  • Infrastructure and API design and execution to support internal dashboards and reporting;

  • Cloud infrastructure and organization;

  • This role requires the ability to manage a team of high performers to support software development and test.

Education / Training

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering, software engineering, from an ABET accredited university or college;
  • +2 year experience with relevant software development.

Key Job Elements

  • Manage a team of software and CI/CD engineers to develop and maintain infrastructure and tooling to support the CI/CD and software release process, as well as onboard software testing;

  • Manage a team of automated test engineers to develop and maintain infrastructure for automated testing;

  • Development Operation (DevOps) engineering and coordination with corporate IT;

  • Assess the value of new technologies, drive the adoption of new test strategies and tools;

  • Project management in an agile environment including scoping, estimating, managing, and reporting on epics and sprints;

  • Work with the team to create solutions to the most important and meaningful technical problems.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate is an organized self-starter willing to take on different tasks to facilitate the development of tooling and processes that support software development, test, reporting, and deployment. The Automation Manager will be responsible for developing the tooling technology and strategy to support a fast-paced software development team. Essential attributes include the ability to lead the team, function extremely well as a team member, and work at both the strategic and tactical level.
