Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Purchasing Teams are responsible for obtaining materials, components, equipment and services, gather quotations, examine bids, and award contracts. They perform cost analysis and volume planning for commodities, evaluate vendor reliability and develop new supply sources where required. They coordinate purchasing activities with the manufacturing and engineering departments to maintain inventory at planned levels and monitor cost, schedule, and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. They also look for and recommend cost saving proposals including make vs. buy analysis, alternative sourcing, and vendor evaluation criteria as well as develop specifications for new contract orders.

  • Resolves major challenges with orders, and delivery dates to meet the demanded needs of finished goods.

  • Supervises procurement of all items necessary for company (and production) to meet customer demands.

  • Develop and implement department training program and supervises department personnel.

  • Develops and maintains processes for Purchase order entry, Acknowledgements, PO Maintenance, and vendor Maintenance

  • Prepares and conducts performance reviews for personnel and provides corrective action when required.

  • Manages vendor base, staying current on product changes, price and availability of production requirement items.

  • Understands the Stocking Strategies and tracks inventory trends and reports lead time issues to help better manage inventory levels.

  • Provides statistics and/or other pertinent data (such as specifications, quotations, costs, arrears, undated, OTD and metric performances) requested for reporting to the company.

  • Attends and participates in production and managers' meetings and is the liaison in dealings between departments and helps to improve communication and efficiency when necessary.

  • Assures that department documents are properly completed and implemented, including procedures, company terms and conditions of orders and purchases and any customer flow down requirements.

  • Reviews incoming requisitions for approvals and compliance.

  • Responsible for developing and maintaining department budgets.


  • Experienced with MRP system SAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets Word and Powerpoint.


  • Bachelors Degree in appropriate field with 5 years of experience in Supply Chain or operations management.

  • Demonstrates expertise within a specific professional discipline by integrating theory and principles with organizational practices and precedents into work

  • Develops solutions to complex problems which require high degree of ingenuity and innovation.

  • Adapts precedents and traditional approaches to develop solutions.
