The opportunity:

The Roanoke Rapids Mill is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst who will be an integral part of the Financial Team working with other departments, divisions, and corporate staff to provide data and analysis of overall mill operations. The Lead Financial Analyst will support the preparation of various analytics, forecasts and operational plans and will report to the Sr. Finance Manager.

How you will impact WestRock:

  • Lead the monthly financial closing process and generate, balance, review and interpret the required P&L and Balance Sheet reports.

  • Coordinate and generate financial reports including variances analysis and financial narratives against prior year, forecast and budget targets.

  • Generate and track operating related metrics as it relates to the mill.

  • Clearly and effectively communicate the monthly, quarterly and YTD financial results to mill and corporate leadership teams.

  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for raw material and energy usage, operating expenses, equipment rental, and other categories as requested.

  • Analyze Mill Diagnostics, Scorecard, Operational graphs and works with Mill Leadership to determine opportunities for cost reduction.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly cost reports as they relate to fiber, energy, chemicals, and work with mill leadership to identify cost reduction opportunities.

  • Work in conjunction with Mill and Division Performance Excellence teams to identify cost improvement opportunities.

  • Work with mill personnel to ensure enforcement of company accounting policies and procedures to protect and secure the company's assets in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.

  • Be responsible for Industry and Government Survey reporting as it relates to the mill.

  • Develop and automate reports required by local management, governmental agencies, Division and Corporate locations to provide insight into mill operations.

  • Support inventory, balance sheet, AP, and other corporate requests.

  • Review accruals, usage trends, income statement, and balance sheet balances to ensure accuracy before the final close.

  • Develop and maintain documentation of internal controls applicable to the assigned functional areas.

  • Responsibility managing and coordinating inventory testing periodically and document results.

  • Provides Mill Controller with backup coverage as needed.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of related experience in Pulp and Paper industry or manufacturing is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong understanding of key metrics

  • Detailed oriented team player who can consistently meet deadlines, adapt quickly, work well with all levels of the organization, and possess the ability to work independently as needed.

  • Advanced skills in Excel.

  • Experience with Hyperion SmartView, Qlik, Power Apps (Power BI), Alteryx preferred, but not required.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, computer, and team building skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a continuously changing environment.

  • Experience leading financial professionals.

  • Strong Analytical and Financial Modeling Capabilities.
