External Job Description
Supervises a team of industrial engineers in the Field Industrial Engineering department, supporting all key contracts/programs. This team responsible for supporting Continuous Improvement activities, process changes, process consistency, and new tool/process deployment for Manufacturing or Assembly operations across NNS.
Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications, and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution.
Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines and general policies.
Reviews work for adequacy in meeting objectives. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Frequent contacts with personnel at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal/external representatives concerning specifics operations.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as dynamic leadership skills needed to influence change in a complex work environment. Must have strong project management and financial management skills.
This position requires a BS in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent. A MS in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience.
Industrial, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering degree is preferred. A MBA or MS in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience is preferred. Candidate should have experience in shipbuilding and overhaul construction, production, or manufacturing.
