The corporate communications manager will deliver clear, engaging and compelling employee communications in partnership with human resources (HR) teams and business partners while contributing to key corporate communications functions such as employer brand development, executive communications, change management communications and crisis communications. The corporate communications manager will be responsible for devising, marketing and delivering key employee engagement activities to support culture and values adoption.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Corporate Communications (50%):

  • Act as corporate communications business partner for HR business partners, the Change and Culture Network, facilities, risk management operations, and legal. Operate as a subject-matter expert recommending best practices for communications and audience engagement.

  • Create and execute internal communications plans that keep employees engaged and informed and highlight the total value proposition.

  • Develop high-quality, engaging and well-structured communications for internal audiences in collaboration with subject-matter experts.

  • Maintain, update and own communications plans.

  • Measure communications effectiveness and recommend adjustments as needed.

  • Leverage a variety of communication channels thoughtfully to ensure message delivery. Channels include email, employee intranet, internal social media, Teams livestream, newsletters and video.

  • Partner on development of branded graphic designs to support corporate, internal and engagement communications.

  • Take a consultative approach with other corporate departments to facilitate development and review of content for the employee portal applying intranet governance.

  • Manage True Blue News newsletter content.

  • Manage business memberships to increase company participation, support media relations strategy and position employees as industry thought leaders.

  • Contribute to and implement tactics of media relations strategy.

  • Support executive communications strategy and thought leadership content development.

  • Support development and maintenance of crisis communications response plan.

  • Support change management communications as organization implements modernization initiatives and strategic plan.

Employee Engagement (35%):

  • Contribute to development of employee engagement strategy formalizing the function.

  • Implement employee engagement strategy to enhance the overall employee experience and support employee retention.

  • Assess value of corporate advertising sponsorships to support employee engagement and employer brand awareness.

  • Lead communications deliverables for employee engagement aspects of corporate advertising sponsorships.

  • Manage administration of and committee coordination for employee recognition program. Adhere to established program governance and recommend updates as program evolves.

  • Maintain relationship with apparel and promotional items supplier to grow awareness of Blue Gear store and support development of brand ambassadors.

Corporate Culture & Team Support (15%):

  • Develop familiarity with Blue Culture while demonstrating values through employee engagement activations.

  • Apply key principles of Blue Culture to internal communications.

  • Model Blue Culture values and attributes.

  • Support and participate in activities associated with Blue Culture, including community volunteer activities.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications & KSA):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field required.

  • Proven experience (5-7 years) in internal or employee communications, corporate communications or related field with a track record of successful communications project management.

  • Apply communications best practices to assess communications needs, deliver engaging communications and measure communication effectiveness.

  • Produce various communications materials, including emails, newsletters, presentations and intranet content, ensuring consistency in messaging and applying appropriate tone for message.

  • Contribute to strategic discussions and effectively and efficiently execute at the tactical level.

  • Comfort in engaging with and offering recommendations to C-suite.

  • Strong relationship builder with focus on employees and internal communication partners.

  • Familiarity with media relations best practices and the Indianapolis media market.

  • Ability to think strategically while applying strategic principles to work output.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor messages for different voices, audiences and communication channels.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Highly attuned to attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 products, including SharePoint.

  • Experience with digital tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and content management systems a plus.

  • Clear and effective writing and presentation style.

  • Familiarity with AP Style.

  • Photography, videography and graphic design skills preferred, not required.

  • Has valid driver's license with access to transportation to be onsite for employee engagement activities.
