Collections & Credit Risk Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Collections and Credit Risk Manager manages Centro's collection team and reports directly to the Director, Billing & Collections. The person will oversee all collections efforts with a focus on continual improvement of cash collections with a focus on data-supported strategies.

This manager role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong collections background, and experience in collections forecasting and analysis. As part of the Centro Finance team, the Manager will be part of many cross-functional and cross-departmental initiatives, as well as regularly interact with internal and external clients.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee, mentor, and manage collections team

  • Prepare monthly bad debt reserve file and journal entry

  • Monthly reconciliation of bad debt allowance

  • Monthly and quarterly collections forecasting and analysis

  • Work with financial reporting team to set monthly cash collections goals

  • Develop and implement collections strategy, policies, and procedures to ensure monthly cash goals are met

  • Collections escalations, payment plans, and legal claims

  • Assisting with financial dashboards including high-risk account analysis and reporting

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-5 years' experience in Accounts Receivable

  • 2-4 years of management experience, or senior-level with leadership traits ready to make a move to manager.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, and ability to compile lots of data into meaningful reporting.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.

  • Month-end close experience including journal entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Stellar communication and customer service skills.

  • Strong leadership qualities.

  • Collaborative attitude that can adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

  • Digital advertising experience a plus.

  • Must have accounting system knowledge; Netsuite is a plus.

  • Accounting Degree preferred; other candidates will be considered.

Provide credit risk governance and oversight of new BofA Merchant Services launch and the wind down of the bank-owned portion of the BAMS joint venture. Primary areas of responsibility include governance, oversight, and credible challenge in key lifecycle areas: * Targeting, marketing, underwriting, and exposure methodology * Transaction level monitoring and customer level reviews * High risk customer monitoring and early collections * Monitoring and governance of credit policy, credit standards, and risk strategies Provides and directs complex analysis on product or customer level strategies to establish risk thresholds and ensure company goals are met. Analyzes performance trends to identify issues, opportunities and recommend credit actions. Provides governance and control for existing and new risk strategies and drives remediation when any control metrics are outside of targets. Communicates with, influences, and presents to peers and senior management in front line unit, Internal Audit, external Regulators, and Enterprise Risk partners. Industry risk management, merchant acquiring experience and Tableau / SAS or SQL experience preferred. Primary responsibilities include: * Performing complex analysis that maximizes profits and maintains credit losses within risk targets * Independently review, analyze, and identify emerging trends and risks, and provide credible challenge back to the Front Line Unit * Oversight of pilot programs, champion/challenger strategies and tests * Reviewing strategy changes (UCRA) and providing management recommendations around credit risk and reward * Reviewing policies, standards, and process that impact and are related to credit strategies and risk-reward performance * Establishing governance and providing risk point of view on strategy level performance, driving change where appropriate * Establishing program performance guardrails and evaluating performance Required Skills: * 7+ years supporting Consumer or Small Business Products with some experience in merchant acquiring processing and settlement, or comparable experience in Risk, Compliance, Audit, or similar Risk function. * 3 years of experience in a strategy or risk role, with focus on one or more strategy area * Solid understanding of credit strategy decision engines and strategy development * Proven experience in partnering, influencing and persuading to achieve desired results. * Demonstrated conviction and decision orientation * Ability to escalate identified issues to management with the proper assessment, root cause analysis, impact, and next steps. * Experience in developing presentations and delivering to senior level executives * Excellent oral, written, influencing and interpersonal communication skills. * Proficiency in using analytic and presentation tools - Tableau, Excel and PowerPoint. * Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles and manage conflict constructively. Desired Skills: * Strong data visualization tool usage with Tableau, and SAS / SQL programming skills. * Knowledge & practical application of Machine Learning techniques * Familiar with Bank of America databases and or Merchant Services data structures * Statistical acumen and knowledge of modeling and model use. * Knowledge of UCRA, Decision Strategy Governance, and Model Risk Management policies and procedures, the interdependencies, and alignment to the Risk Framework. Enterprise Role Overview: Manages a group of analysts that are responsible for supporting data bases or performing complex analysis and modeling that maximizes profits and asset growth and minimizes credit and operating losses and other risk exposures. Their team would provide data or analytical support on various product strategies to ensure company goals are met. Coordinates the production of data for regulatory needs or performance reports for Senior mgt. Manages the review and regulatory submission requirements or analysis of trends in current population distributions and recommends strategies. Directs the development of more complex databases or program models to extract data and use databases to provide statistical and financial modeling. Oversees the analysis of data delivery, portfolio trends, concerning credit score cutoffs, loss trends, portfolio dynamics, and bureau scoring criteria. Integrates the analysis team with other corporate units to insure alignment of analysis with business data, strategies and objectives. Responsible for hiring and training Risk Analysis Senior Specialist. Master's degree or large data experience preferred; Programming experience like SQL, SAS preferred; 7+ years experience.
