About ECU Health Chowan Hospital
ECU Health Chowan Hospital in Edenton is a 25-bed critical access hospital which provides programs and services to 110,000 people in 6 counties. The facility offers medical and surgical services, including intensive care, a specialty care clinic and a dedicated outpatient surgery area with endoscopy capabilities. A 7-bed emergency department serves approximately 15,000 patients per year and team members at the facility have access to a telemedicine link with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Position Summary
Coordinates program development by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating Clinical Nutrition Services. Facilitates the processes to interview, select, develop, and evaluate Clinical Nutrition Staff.
Identifies and implements research methods to support quality nutrition care using evidence based practice. Supports Clinical Nutrition Activities. Oversight of Dietetic Internship Program
Responsibilities
Develops goals and objectives for Clinical Nutrition Services in alignment with the system's mission, vision, values and strategic plan, to maintain high quality care. Participates in the development and implementation of long and short range strategies, to ensure achievement of desired outcomes.
Utilizes equipment, resources and programs to provide efficient and high quality care. Participates in the budget process. Identifies and implements research methods to support quality nutrition care using evidenced based practice.
Facilitates the processes to screen, interview, select, develop, and evaluate Clinical Nutrition Staff.
Establishes education programs for facility's professional staff and develops, Implements and documents in-service education programs for Registered Dietitians, Dietetic Technicians and other nutrition personnel to provide continuing education and training. Support leadership of Clinical Nutrition Activities.
Complies with all local, state and federal government regulations. Monitors compliance with policies and procedures to comply with all regulatory agencies and state laws in accordance with facility policies. Actively participates in local, state, and national professional organizations that impact quality improvement.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other facility departments to provide a unified approach to patient/resident care.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science- or higher- in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition required.
Masters Degree preferred
Registered Dietitian with the Commision of Dietetic Registration
Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist in North Carolina required.
Completed Dietetics Internship or Coordinated Undergraduate Program through Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
5 years or more progressive clinical and management experience.
