Job Summary

We are seeking a Clinical Nutrition Manager to join our Nutrition Team in Baton Rouge, LA. Monday-Friday, day shift with one weekend rotation per month. The Clinical Nutrition Manager will lead and direct the functions of clinical nutrition services (such as nutrition assessment, nutrition counseling/consultation, performance improvement) and the management of the clinical nutrition team to ensure high quality nutritional care is provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes goals and oversees implementation of clinical nutrition care based upon facility's medical direction and patient population.

  • Hires, leads, direct, coaches, trains, and develops nutrition team members.

  • Fosters team work and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes.

  • Evaluates clinical team staff according to departmental policy and takes appropriate action as necessary.

  • Monitors competency, productivity and documentation accuracy of clinical staff.

  • Assigns and directs the workload of the clinical nutrition staff. Participates in staffing analysis to ensure adequate staffing in collaboration with the Regional Clinical Nutrition Manager and/or the Director of Clinical and Wellness Support.

  • Complies with regulatory standards, including federal, state and accrediting agencies and adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.

  • Participates in facility-wide and directs departmental Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement (QAPI) Programs.

  • Leads and/or participates in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs, as appropriate.

  • Reads, customizes and enforces compliance with all policies and procedures of the facility and Company as appropriate.

  • Ensures patient satisfaction, quality care, regulatory agency compliance, and good public relations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

  • Licensed by the State Dietetics Licensing Board in states where applicable required.

  • Three years of experience in healthcare as a Registered Dietitian, which includes managerial responsibilities required.

  • Experience with computers and programs including Microsoft Office Suite required.

SUMMARY Directs the total care for BioScrip nutrition patients by coordinating care with patients, physicians, insurance companies and home health providers to optimize clinical outcomes in an efficient and profitable manner. Performs nutritional assessments to formulate and adjust nutritional goals for individual patients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation. * Maintains confidentiality of patient information. * Reviews new nutrition patient referrals and ensures clinical and fiscal appropriateness of ordered products and services. * Advises patients and their families on nutrition support administration, water delivery, accesses and pump management. * Documents all interventions pertaining to nutritional care in patients' electronic medical record. * Maintains knowledge of products and reimbursement guidelines to effectively answer questions for patients, referral sources, prescribers and the organization's employees. * Performs ongoing clinical review of nutrition patients according to age-appropriate policies. * Participates in performance improvement activities, data collection, outcomes measurement and multidisciplinary nutrition care planning. * Understands Medicare qualification and billing practices for parenteral and enteral nutrition therapies. Reviews and oversees documentation obtainment for justification of nutrition services as requested. * Sets high goals and quality comprehensive services to all customers and coworkers through a team approach. * Uses clinical data to identify and diagnose nutrition-related problems, selects appropriate interventions, tracking progress toward goals. Performs nutritional assessments using various techniques including but not limited to: estimation of nutrient intake, calculation of nutritional requirements, anthropometrics, evaluation of selected laboratory results and assessment of drug-nutrient interactions. Communicates findings of nutritional assessments to appropriate disciplines and documents with progress notes and assessments of patients' medical records. * Develops and implements written nutrition plans of care, in conjunction with physicians, healthcare personnel, patients and caregivers. * Obtains nutrition orders from qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with law and regulations. Prior DME, Infusion or Home Health experience is preferred. Experiential requirements may be waived in lieu of evidence of progressive growth in and attainment of the skills necessary to perform the required duties. Must have valid driver's license and maintain a driving record which meets organization's standards.
