Job Designation

The Accounting Manager leads the General Accounting & Control Function; supports the business financial reporting, budgets and internal control processes. May develop into a Controller position, leading and guiding multiple sites in cost control. Partners with other management in implementing the company's policies and full cost transparency. Ensures financial busines processes are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Partners with other management to ensure the maximization of the company's financial performance.

  • Develops and implements the strategic plan and manages the financial reporting, budgets and internal processes.

  • Leads the Accounting department as defined by business needs, multiple locations.

  • Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.

  • Advises management in interpreting and utilizing managerial accounting information.

  • Directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts with accuracy and reports variances.

  • Develops business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

  • Ensures timely and complete financial statements and oversees the preparation of the site portion of the corporate annual report and tax papers.

  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and future operations.

  • Establish cost controlling process to ensure full cost transparency and tracking against financial targets.

  • Make decisions and take proactive steps to deliver and maximize financial results on Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss and Free Cash Flow elements.

  • Manage internal and external audits, make sure audit actions are solved on time and bring improvement to on-site processes in general.

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours, as necessary.

  • Represent the company in contract negotiations in order to provide the best possible financial negotiated results.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job Specifications

Education: Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting; Masters and/or CPA a plus

Certifications

Years Experience: 5-10 years of Finance experience in a manufacturing environment; multi-national experience a plus.

Skills

  • Knowledge of SAP - Finance and Controlling modules

  • Knowledge of IFRS

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Thorough understanding and experience of standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures

  • Knowledge of accounting, financial reporting and financial analysis acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles

  • Strong team development and management skills to enable the creation of a highly capable Finance and Accounting team

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting, financial planning, reporting and analysis, acquired through related work experience in increasingly complex roles.

  • Capable of driving change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and database management tools

This includes; providing the Americas related disclosures for 10-Q, 10-K, various government requirements, and internal financial analysis as well as SOX compliance and documentation for North America Consolidation Accounting, US Accounting programs and Financial Close. Resource for North America businesses to improve financial performance and operations and ensure all transactions are in compliance with GAAP/Corp Policy. Primary Responsibilities * Manage NAT closing and reporting processes to satisfy internal and external customers by providing timely and accurate financial information. Provide in depth analysis on NAT's financials for NAT and Goodyear management. This includes analysis on NAT's EBIT, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Inventory, SAG, Imports, and Export A. * Directly responsible for NAT's accounting consolidation process, including sales eliminations, deferred profit, statistical 1-4s, and intercompany AR/AP balancing. Manage NAT accounting for inventory reserves, finished goods standard costing, product warranty, legal liability, EPA accruals, PPV, real estate, and business divestitures. Provide accounting support and guidance to PBUs and subsidiaries during closing process. * Ensure relevant business process controls and processes are documented and tested and that no un-remediated control gaps exist by organizing and installing effective account reconciliation, review and oversight processes. * Advise business operational functions, PBUs and subsidiaries on implementation of new processes and their impact on NAT's financials. Evaluate and implement procedures and processes to comply with new Corp policy and GAAP.  * Hire and develop associates by transferring knowledge of operations, financial concepts and business issues. Utilize management tools to provide associates with performance feedback and facilitate their development. Required Education and Experience * Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Management.  * Masters' in Business Administration or Masters' of Accountancy, CPA, CMA, or Certified Financial preferred. * A minimum of 7+ years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience (preferably in a large corporate or manufacturing organization)  * Cross functional experience in various financial roles, including both corporate and operational finance. * Experience with leading teams through complex processes, projects, and process improvements.
