Short Description

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred.
2-5 years recent clinical experience in Labor & Delivery, Antepartum, ambulatory Maternal Fetal Medicine practice or equivalent experience including fetal monitoring and interpretation.

Must possess effective communication skills, diplomacy and ability to work well with all disciplines and levels.

Requires strong interpersonal, organizational and verbal/written communication skills

Current NJ RN License


Knowledge and skill in the nursing role when caring for patients undergoing the following procedures/interventions: Ultrasound, amniocentesis, and fetal monitoring.

Knowledge of high-risk patient's learning needs and education resources, normal pathophysiology of pregnancy and potential impact of risk factors. Knowledge of routine antepartum tests and procedures and ability to coordinate complex patient care.

Proficient with EMR.

Experience with ASOBGYN & EPIC preferred.

Performs utilization review in accordance with all state mandated regulations. . Consults with Physician Advisor to discuss medical necessity, length of stay, and appropriateness of care issues. Identify and manage concurrent and retroactive denials through communication with attending physicians, case management, multidisciplinary team, external physician resource group and payers. Completes documentation of review and denial processes in the EPIC Case Management Module Responds to requests from the payer for all required information and treatment plans. Reviews and validates physician's orders, reports progress and unusual occurrences on patients to the payer. Special Requirements Scheduled Days / Hours: as needed weekday and weekend Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing required Experience: 3-5 years of recent clinical experience, preferably in area of population specialty. Experience in utilization management or review preferred. Knowledge and understanding of disease protocols and clinical pathways for commercial and government payors. Familiarity with Interqual and Millimen guidelines and regulatory mandates preferred. Strong communication (written and verbal) and critical thinking skills required.
