Metrology Technician
We are currently accepting resumes for a Metrology Technician. This position will report to the Resident Engineer.
This role in summary
The Metrology technician is responsible for creating, running, and validating CMM programs using PCDMIS and FARO Arm using PolyWorks. The successful candidate will be used as an SME for blueprint interpretation and GD&T along with all measurement instruments including but not limited to Height gauges, Optical Comparators, calipers, micrometers, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
Creating CMM programs for PPAP, troubleshooting, process control, set-up and audit inspection, and part, and tool troubleshooting, using PCDMIS
Use of Faro arm for troubleshooting
Complete detailed reports documenting findings from part layouts
Maintain laboratory equipment and facilities involving outside services as needed.
Train, instruct, and assist others on gauge usage as needed
Backup PPAP coordinator
Requires basic mechanical aptitude including the ability to read and interpret GD&T
Understanding of basic problem-solving skills, including statistical analysis, and ability to use these tools to drive root cause identification and problem-solving.
Serve as a division expert for reading and understanding product blueprints, especially GD&T.
Assist with MSEs & DOEs
Ability to use, and teach how to use basic metrology tools such as height gauges, surface plates, optical comparators, plug gauges, thread gauges, etc.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 2 years experience working in a metrology setting doing the following:
Creating CMM Programs using PCDMIS
Ability to use PolyWorks Software with the Faro Arm
Strong communication and people skills involving regular interaction with all personnel levels
Strong understanding of GD&T & Statistical Process Control
Experience programming in PC DMIS with and without CAD
Proficient in print (blueprint) reading
Strong problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite
PIT license required, or ability to obtain.
The successful candidate must be able to work any shift to complete the job duties.
