Metrology Engineer position 2 year position Windsor Lock CT

  • Manages multiple teams in various duties such as calibration, maintenance, installation and repair of Test Facilities Instrumentation, including computer based data acquisition systems. The work is either done in the Test Facilities or on bench in a workshop environment.

  • Develop and/or design and support systems, processes, methods and procedures for calibrating Measurement and Test Equipment (M&TE) based on analysis of measurement problems, accuracy and precision requirements;

  • Provide technical support to Metrology lab technicians, MSE Rig Design and Facilities groups

  • Create, revise instrumentation specifications as required;

  • Analyze calibration standards and processes using statistics;

  • Evaluate new calibration methods and procedures;

  • Research calibration requirements in order to recommend calibration standards;

  • Monitor compliance with laboratory and/or departmental quality systems;

  • Develop software (Fluke, Met-Cal, NI LabView and Microsoft Excel) to assist in calibration laboratory and/or departmental processes;

  • Perform laboratory and/or departmental administration duties

  • Participate in education or training: Develop training plans and materials, conduct training and maintain professional competency The position requires a person with initiative, resourcefulness and teamwork traits and must have good written and oral communication skills and a willingness to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Education: BS degree required +/2-5+ years' experience preferably in electrical/mechanical engineering or similar program such as military calibration training.

He/she should have 2 to 5 years or more experience with precision standard instrumentation and measurement techniques, as well as a comprehensive

US Citizenship required or Permanent resident

Responsibilities include: * Providing internal customers with high-quality results of Structured Light measurements * Supporting Production Programming/Automated Inspection analysis * Qualifying suppliers to P&W Standards * Developing merging non-contact metrology * Education of others in non-contact metrology * Travel up to 20% Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree required * 2 or more years of technical experience in Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science preferred. * Experience in Manufacturing Engineering, CMM Programming, Design Engineering, or Layout Inspection. * Ability to read P&W Prints and Python Programming a big plus. * Strong experience with Polyworks and Unigraphics NX also will be considered.
