The purpose of this job is to conduct accurate and efficient water and electric meter readings. Maintains meter access, equipment, and location data. Investigates billing and metered service data errors. Provides training for new Meter Readers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reads meters on assigned routes. Assists Meter Reader I staff with completing routes.
Investigates metered services to resolve billing issues of residential water and electric meters.
Replaces inaccurate or failed water and electric meters.
Communicates with customers regarding potential problems, coordinates with property managers to access equipment, and troubleshoots meter and billing concerns with co-workers and customers.
Assists processing of delinquent account disconnections and/or utility customer metered service activities.
Collects GPS points for water and electric meters.
Maintains accurate and detailed records.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No supervisory authority. Work requires providing guidance and training to others.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses or Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position
Knowledge of:
Common GPS mapping software applications.
Standard hand tools and equipment related to installing, connecting, and disconnecting meters.
Safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use of tools, working around electricity, and connecting/disconnecting electric meters.
General office practices and administrative procedures, records management, and administration techniques and procedures.
Local geography and street location.
Skill in:
Typing and/or data entry with minimal errors.
Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.
Managing time effectively.
Maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to:
Use and maintain hand tools.
Walk long distances in all weather conditions.
