We are a growing organization seeking a talented Metal Craft (Level 3) - Welder to join our team as a pivotal member here at PBF Energy. This role is located at Torrance Refining Company in Torrance, CA.

JOB SUMMARY

Metals Craft (Level 3) - Welder, is responsible for providing expertise in several areas including layout, shop fabrication & welding.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operates various refinery equipment such as drill press, forklift, overhead and 4 - 4.5 ton carry deck cranes and aerial lift.

• Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on specific equipment, such as boilers, pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping, heat exchangers and fin fans

• Regularly works on heat exchangers removing components, testing, and reinstalling components

• Regularly works on valves, pressure relief valves and control valves

• Possesses a commitment to Safety and Safe Work Practices. Works safely and follows all Safety Policies.

• Sustains high quality work, prevent rework, and support reliable operation.

• Maintains housekeeping in work areas according to Company standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Basic/Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of related experience, which could include experience as a Boiler maker, pipefitter mechanic.

• 3+ years of welding experience. Ability to weld 6010,7018, Stainless & Inconel.

• 2+ years of crane signaling experience.

• 2+ years of rigging experience

• Demonstrated experience operating boiler shop machinery (drill press, bandsaw, plasma cutter, threading machine etc.)

• Measure, Layout and fabricate pipe and structural steel

• Understanding of basic physical and mechanical principles and craft math.

• Ability to work in confined spaces (IDLH).

• Ability to work in various types of work environments: Weld shop, boilers, towers and excavated bell holes etc.

• Ability to work while donned in a variety of Personal Protective Equipment (Supplied breathing air)

• Ability to climb, bend, lift up to 50lbs and perform a wide range of physical activities in all weather conditions.

• Willing and able to work overtime, nightshift, call outs and weekends and holidays as required.

• Must be able to work in inclement weather at times.

• Ability to work in a Team environment with other Mechanical, Operations and Engineering / Inspection personnel.

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written.

• Must be self- motivated with willing to acquire and utilize new and/or additional skills.

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older and hold a valid driver's license.

• High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• NCCER or Equivalent Certification

The wage for this position is $51.21/hour. The compensation listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills and internal peer equity will be considered in determining the selected candidate's compensation.
