The Doe Run Company is seeking a Metallurgist Engineer II to provide technical support for the mineral processing operations to maximize metal recovery while optimizing product quality at our Southeast Missouri Division located in Viburnum, MO.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a metallurgist or metallurgical technician.
Monitor and optimize process performance, including sampling procedures, on-stream analysis, size reduction, and reagent utilization.
Coordinate collection, analysis, and distribution of technical data among the staff and mill employees.
Communicate processes, procedures, conditions, and status to mill employees.
Complete new product testing by working with vendors, consultants, and educators to test and evaluate new equipment, reagents, or processes on a large plant scale.
Provide support and assist production staff in troubleshooting issues related to processing concentrates and provide technical support.
Assist in developing skills of concentrate operators and fill in for the mill superintendent as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Credentials and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering or related field
Minimum of 3 or more years of experience as a metallurgist or metallurgical technician
Valid, current driver's license
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, I-Series, and PeopleSoft
Strong understand of equipment used in the mill and how it affects overall metallurgy in order to make recommendations on process improvements
Knowledge of mineral processing
Ability to occasionally wear personal protective equipment, including but not limited to: fall protection, a respirator, hearing protection, and eyewear.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time
Occasionally required to use repetitive motion and reach with hands/arms
