Metallurgical Engineer

Hendrickson USA, LLC - Metallurgical Engineer - Woodridge, Illinois.

Provide support to commercial truck product line with a major focus on steel springs and fabrications, and ferrous castings. Perform raw material assessment and process development, failure analysis in support of product development, manufacturing, and field issue resolution.

Perform technical metallurgical projects with limited supervision or direction. Provide guidance and/or training to product and manufacturing engineering teams. Participate in the development of material specifications and/or manufacturing processes and resolution of test or field issues.

5-10% of travel required. Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering or related required.

Will accept foreign degree evaluated to be the equivalent of a U.S. degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering or related. Four years experience as Metallurgist, Metallurgical Engineer, or related. Experience must have included heat treatment process control, quality checking, failure analysis testing for structural steel and ferrous castings, and manufacturing processes including welding, heat treatments, forming and forging. Experience must have included: non-destructive testing, 8D problem solving, and failure analysis using common metallurgical techniques.
