We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell V-280 Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) and the Bell 360 Invictus Future Attack and Reconnaissance Aircraft (FARA), part of the US Army's Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless, Bell's Autonomous Pod Transport (APT), and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next-generation stop-fold tilt-rotor.
Metallic Materials Lab Technician (Second Shift)
Bring your own mechanical or chemical experience to support the manufacture, design and research and development (R&D) of vertical lift drive systems for aircraft.
You'll work with other technicians and engineers at Bell to provide lab testing activities for transmission gear heat treat, chemical and other metallic processing methods. These gears will be used on flight aircraft as well as testing environments.
This role is an integral part of the Materials and Process Engineering team at Bell, working to provide safe, effective components across multiple aircraft platforms.
Bell is seeking a Metallic Materials Lab Technician to work on second shift. This position is located at Bells Plant 5 Drive Systems Center in Grand Prairie, TX.
This position is onsite. 2nd Shift is from 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Work location is Bell plant in Grand Prairie, TX, close to HWY 360.
What you'll be doing as a Metallic Materials Lab Technician (Second Shift):
Sectioning metallic components & preparing metallurgical mounts
Operating laboratory equipment such as: Analysis Equipment: hardness testers, spectrograph, x-ray fluorescence, gas analyzer, x-ray diffraction, tensile testing, digital & optical microscopes
Preparation Equipment: electro-discharge machining (EDM), band saw, grinders, sanders, cut-off wheels, sand blaster, polisher, metallurgical mounting presses, Chemical analysis and titrations
Perform thermal equipment temperature surveys and pyrometry tasks.
Generate technical laboratory reports.
Statistical analysis of data
Skills You Bring to This Role:
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with chemical and/or materials testing requirements greatly preferred
Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
Good communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships with the other departments at Bell.
What You Need to Be Successful:
Either an Associate's Degree in Science or Technology OR at least 60 hours completed college credits OR directly related previous work experience in a materials lab.
Entry-level and more senior level candidates with applicable education and/or experience will be considered.
Strong communication and organization skills to properly relay and document results and procedures.
Must be able to work 2nd shift hours of 2:30 pm to 11:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to lift 25 pounds.
Able to wear appropriate PPE as needed
